Putin was surprised that the US imposed "very tough sanctions" against Russia's largest oil companies, Lukoil and Rosneft, Lavrov said. "We agreed in Anchorage that Russia supported the United States' proposal for a comprehensive settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. After that, we expected the US to confirm that 'Now, since you agree with our proposal, let's announce something...' But suddenly, sanctions were imposed on Lukoil and Rosneft," he said in an interview with Russia Today. Also, according to Lavrov, following the US operation in Venezuela, there are "open attempts" to get Russian companies out of the country.
