This cemetery belongs to the Kurdish fighters who gave their lives liberating Raqqa — the capital of ISIS. These are the same heroes the world celebrated for destroying ISIS. Today their graves are being desecrated by Syrian forces backed by the new authorities — the very groups many call ISIS rebranded and normalized by the West. The US and Europe once armed and praised the Kurds for defeating ISIS. Today they support and fund the people responsible for this horrible work. Kurds did not fight for anyone — they simply shared a mutual enemy with the West: ISIS. Now the West watches in silence as the memory of those fighters is wiped out. This is what betrayal looks like. I’ve watched John Kennedy at least five times. While I hope his warning doesn’t fall on deaf ears, I’m even more concerned that it might be yet another empty promise—the kind the Kurds have sadly come to expect from American politicians. “Erdogan, leave the Kurds alone. Kurds as you know are wonderful people. There are probably 30-40 million [sic] …living mostly in Turkey, Iran, Northern Iraq & Syria. Kurds are a distinct ethnic group…a stateless country bc they are spread all over the world. The Kurds are America’s friend 🇺🇸 Not many years ago, ISIS established a caliphate in the Middle East, Which America destroyed. The people most responsible for destroying ISIS were the Kurds. We lost less than 20 American lives in destroying ISIS. Our friends the Kurds lost over 10,000 fighting alongside us, and over 30,000 wounded. Without the Kurds, ISIS would still be there. Erdogan doesn’t like the Kurds. Right now Erdogan has troops, tanks & weapons marshaled at border between Turkey & Syria. The Kurds live very peacefully in northeast Syria, so my message to Erdogan is: Don’t do it! Leave the Kurds alone! To prevent the besieged city of Kobani from receiving assistance from Kurds in Turkey, he ordered deep trenches to be dug along the border to stop Turkish Kurds from crossing to assist Syrian Kurds during the operation . All Turkish-backed jihadists and Syrian army jihadists are said to disguise themselves as ISIS and commit a massive crime against humanity in the city. To avoid legal responsibility, al-Jolani is expected to keep the Kurds occupied with the ceasefire while the Turkish army, Syrian army, and jihadists—disguised as ISIS—take over the city. The attack on Kobani is expected to be far worse than the attack on Kurdish neighbourhoods in Aleppo. Turkey continues to send reinforcements to the jihadists. This is also why Arabs, Turks and Fars will always try to keep the Kurds down. Islamists hate that Kurds identify as a Kurd first and not Muslim. While Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Syria hate that Kurds don’t identify as Arab, Turk and Fars. That is why the only solution for Kurds is independence.
