China destroyed thousands of acres of Corals Reefs to build these bases. Landfilling process to build artificial islands, completely ruined the marine ecosystem of the sourrouding areas, causing depletion of fishing stock & even extinction of some species. 2/3

Today, the 15 surviving Filipino crew members rescued by the China Coast Guard in the South China Sea safely returned to Manila. Early on the 23rd, a cargo ship carrying 21 Filipino crew members capsized and went missing about 55 nautical miles northwest of China’s Huangyan Island, territory claimed by both China and the Philippines, which has been a flashpoint for ongoing tensions and maritime confrontations in the South China Sea. The China Coast Guard immediately dispatched two vessels and aircraft for search and rescue, successfully saving 17 people (2 perished). Based on on-site photos, the China Coast Guard provided the Filipino crew with medical care, food and water, as well as places to rest. Afterward, the China Coast Guard handed over the rescued crew to the Philippine side and is continuing the search for the missing sailors.
