This is a classic case of overengineering

Why people call it overengineered, when it is obviously underengineered.

That’s literally the opposite of over engineering.

It's not overengineered, its actually quite cleaver. It's improperly engineered. Lets look at some improvements. 1. It needs gearing to speed up the ball to basket. 2. Widen the input for more than one ball to basket. 3. increase capture height to reduce overflow.

They need to 3d print a hippo head for the front of it

Not over-engineered, badly-engineered.

And this is what happen when an engineer has too much time.

Just use this bro

It is not overengineered enough

It either needs to: a) handle two balls at once into the conveyor and basket, or b) narrow the funnel to a single ball-width.

Marriage? A gag? Lockjaw?

over mini golf is crazy

It is poor engineering

Perfect example of time wasting, This cost way lesser

Make it a bag instead of a basket. Seems all the issues stem from forcing the balls uphill to the basket, so just have a ball sized opening at ground level, let the bag drag. You can always dump the balls in a basket later…

Not overengineered, just clever—but still poorly engineered; it needs gearing for speed, a wider input for multiple balls, and increased height to prevent overflow.

You have a couple of issues. The bottleneck is clear, just widen it to two, maybe three balls (if it doesn’t blow out your cost) all the way over the basket. For the collection rails, attach a length of angle iron on each tube to create an edge instead that sits above the balls center.

Sometimes simple works. Not everything needs to be improved or implemented.

Make those barriers a little taller all the way up the funnel, and decrease the width to a half-of-a-ball-wider than the ball at the center point.

the inventor watched this video and still thinks it works

The superior solution

Just narrow the throat so only one ball feeds at a time and raise those side walls a bit higher.

How do you miss that many putts

I’d say under rather than over. The throat needs to be wider.

@grok how exactly is "over engineering" meant in this context?

I feel like a dustpan and a broom would've been quicker.

Add Height to the channel. The balls won't spill over.

That looks nothing like the ball gobblers I know.

Hate to state the obvious ,.. But why don't the use a leaf vacuum cleaner ...???

I’m fucking fuming it cut off before he went back for that last ball. I can’t sleep now.

I must say on the contrary it is quite a useful tool but under engineered

The name is going to cause a lot of confusion.

@zackaryurban Nah, I rather pick them with my hands and get tf out of there

Even the engineers of the wealthy work differently.

theres a better version where its a wire wheel that opens and snags up the balls and doesnt drop them if used right
