This is a comparison between the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Xiaomi 18 Pro using their partial-window privacy modes. This test is especially useful because only part of the screen has privacy protection enabled, while the rest of the display remains in normal mode. That allows us to evaluate two... things at the same time: how strong the privacy effect actually is, and how well the normal, non-private areas preserve their brightness, viewing angles, and overall image quality. From this comparison, Samsung performs very well in both areas. The protected section becomes extremely difficult to see from the side, while the rest of the screen largely maintains its normal brightness, viewing angles, and image quality. The Xiaomi 18 Pro shows a very different result. Its protected area still remains fairly visible from an angle, while the parts of the screen that are supposed to remain normal also suffer from reduced brightness and worse viewing angles. In other words, Xiaomi's current implementation appears to sacrifice a noticeable amount of normal display quality without achieving an equally strong privacy effect. Samsung's approach feels much more complete: strongly protect the areas that need privacy, while preserving the normal viewing experience everywhere else. The Galaxy S26 Ultra display looks like absolute garbage next to the iQOO 16. Honestly, it looks like shit. The S26 Ultra uses M14 OLED, while the iQOO 16 has moved on to the newer M16 OLED, so the latter already has an advantage at the panel level. But the real disaster is Samsung’s privacy display design. Look at this comparison. The moment you tilt the S26 Ultra, the woman’s skin tone starts turning yellow and green. At wider angles, she almost looks like a ghost. Meanwhile, the iQOO 16 keeps her skin tone remarkably accurate, with excellent clarity and color consistency even from extreme angles. And please pay attention to this: I did NOT enable Privacy Display. This is the S26 Ultra in its normal display mode. The privacy feature is completely off, yet the viewing angles are already this bad. That means even if you never use Privacy Display at all, you still have to live with the side effects of this optical structure every single day. Tilt the phone a little and colors shift. Skin tones collapse. A flagship display that cannot even maintain basic color consistency at normal viewing angles is simply unacceptable. The first thing I checked after getting the iQOO 16 was its viewing angle performance, because this issue matters a lot to me. And honestly, I was so happy. This finally feels like a proper flagship OLED again. Then I looked back at my S26 Ultra and almost wanted to cry. Samsung has some of the best OLED technology in the world, and M14 OLED itself is perfectly capable of looking excellent. Yet Samsung sacrificed viewing angles, transparency, and color consistency for a privacy feature that most people will only use occasionally. And this is exactly why I am already worried about the S27 Ultra. I’ve been following the evolution of foldables for a while, and what I find interesting is that the category is finally moving beyond the question of “How many screens can we fit into a phone?” The new HUAWEI Mate XT 2 ULTIMATE DESIGN caught my attention for a different reason, Huawei seems to be asking what a foldable phone should actually feel like in everyday life. The feature that stood out most to me is the new folding architecture. Instead of simply improving the previous design, Huawei has changed the way the device folds altogether. The two sides fold inward, fully enclosing the flexible display, while an independent outer screen lets you use the phone normally when it’s closed. That feels like a meaningful design decision to me. A foldable is only truly useful if you don’t have to think about the folding mechanism every time you use it. For calls, messages or quick tasks, it behaves like a phone. When you need more space, you open it up and suddenly have a much larger canvas. The other feature I found genuinely interesting is Lingdun Privacy Display. With increasingly work from our phones, emails, financial information, business documents, conversations. The idea of having hardware-level privacy that can help shield the screen from people looking from the side feels surprisingly practical. And perhaps that’s what I like most about this generation. The impressive part isn’t simply that it looks futuristic, it’s that some of the engineering appears to be focused on solving very ordinary problems: How do I use a large screen without carrying a tablet? How do I protect what I’m looking at in public? How do I make a sophisticated device feel natural? That, to me, is where technology becomes interesting when innovation stops being about showing what’s possible and starts making everyday life a little easier.

I am still very surprised there has not been an effort to search the desert areas for #NancyGuthrie. I previously showed an example of using drone still images to map entire areas and then applying specialized detection software. This is another example, using video captured from a drone and detection software programmed to identify humans and human remains. In this case, from a few months ago, I located this individual using that method. The deceased person was wearing clothing that blended into the environment and was largely concealed under brush, yet we were still able to detect the person while covering large areas of land from high altitudes with drones and specialized software. I feel the Sheriff’s Department and/or the family should consider this type of strategy in the areas with the highest probability of detection. #SAR

Two camps shouting about whether people deserve to hide things… … while the constraints that actually decide this sit somewhere else entirely 👇🏻 ◢ No company can run payroll on a public ledger This is the boring commercial reason privacy matters and it gets almost no airtime. A business putting salaries, supplier terms and margins on a transparent chain hands its competitors a spreadsheet. Every institution that seriously looked at on-chain settlement hit this wall and went quietly back to settling off-chain. Confidentiality is a baseline requirement in normal commerce, and we built the one financial system that cannot provide it. ◢ Front-running needs an audience The part DeFi should care about most. Sandwich attacks work because your intent gets broadcast before it executes. So, a searcher reads your swap, jumps ahead of it, and sells it back to you at a worse price. Private execution deletes the thing being read. Privacy is a MEV defence, and that framing gets a fraction of the attention the compliance argument does. ◢ The first users get the worst privacy Any privacy system is only as strong as the crowd hiding inside it. With a few hundred users, timing and amounts correlate well enough to unpick a lot of the activity anyway. Early adopters carry real exposure while providing cover for everyone who shows up later. Anyone treating a young private network as bulletproof today has the maths backwards. ◢ A sealed chain with open edges Flawless privacy on-chain does nothing about the exits.
