We are pleased to announce that water has finally been connected to Kinna Police Station, following the successful completion of the water project yesterday. A water storage tank has been fully installed, marking the successful delivery of this important initiative. Isiolo South has three wards — Kinna, Garbatulla, and Sericho. This was just a day before Hon. Fayo backstabbed us. We had successfully concluded our outreach in Kinna and Garbatulla wards, where we handed over the remaining items for donation to the people of Isiolo South through him. We were heading to Sericho ward to continue with our campaign and community engagement when we were shocked to learn that he had stepped down in support of another candidate. May Allah take charge.

As I said yesterday, we do not play politics with the lives of Kenyans. Due to the high electricity bills and following a humble appeal by the Kinna Mosque management led by Sheikh Abdullahi Kanjora and Mzee Mohammed Guyo, coordinated by Sheikh Hussein Ibrahim Bulle, our first solar power project has been successfully installed at Jamia Mosque, Kinna Ward, Garbatula Sub-County, ahead of Ramadhan. It will power the mosque and support water supply to over 160 households, including high-capacity storage tanks. We have identified five more mosques without electricity and water, forcing worshippers to take udhu at home. Our engineers from Nairobi and Isiolo are installing solar systems, water connections, public address systems, providing mikeka, and upgrading mud-walled mosques. Service to the people remains our priority.

On the 28th of July we distributed 8,000 liters to Nakhil camp in Zawayde and 8,000 liters to Asqalan camp in Western Deir El Balah. It is unfortunate that our candidate Hon. Isaack Abduba Fayo has betrayed us out of greed and allowed himself to be compromised by the state. Two days ago, he started disappearing from the ground, forcing us to continue with the campaign in his absence. However, I want to assure the great people of Isiolo South that we will continue with the small projects we had already started—for the sake and benefit of the community. I take this opportunity to sincerely thank each and every one of you for the overwhelming support you gave us during our short stay in Isiolo. Together, we move forward.

The state of water infrastructure in South Africa is poor. We have gone years without investing in maintenance or construction. What we are witnessing currently is evidence of years of neglect. In Tshwane, we have been criticised for using water tankers to ensure continued service delivery of water to residents in times of crisis. However, this positioning of blame neglects the context of what we’ve inherited and are now trying to fix -aging infrastructure.

As the dry season takes hold in Tsavo, the elephant visitors come to Ithumba in a steady stream. Up to 150 congregate by our water troughs sometimes. Head Keeper Benjamin and the team are ready. Behind these full troughs is Water for Wildlife — our complex, fully committed conservation programme. Northern Tsavo is marked by high salinity levels, rendering much of its water undrinkable. To solve the water challenge, we established a desalination plant in Ithumba. Now, we can take saline water directly from the Ithumba boreholes, process it through the plant, and make it potable. Multiple times a day, our bowsers deliver water and top up troughs, dispersing the wealth throughout the landscape. This innovation has also transformed operations for our teams and the KWS units who are also based in Ithumba. Since we began providing drinkable water, wildlife have come back to the area in droves. These reliable watering points encourage elephants to remain deep within the safety of the park instead of venturing onto community land in search of food and water, which helps reduce human-wildlife conflict. The recent by-election outcomes in Muminyi Ward, evurera Ward, Kabras West Ward, and Isiolo South demonstrate the continued impact of the politics of handouts, including the withdrawal of our candidate in Isiolo South after being compromised; as the NEDP, we maintain that this ideology has been overtaken by events, and we are committed to a new approach centered on poverty eradication, support for the most vulnerable families through basic necessities such as school uniforms, stationery, and sanitary towels, addressing urgent needs like water shortages, and empowering the youth through job creation and community-based initiatives—choosing service, dignity, and long-term solutions over transactional politics.

A few months back, together with my family, we visited the marginalized Batwa community at Mpeerwa Camp in Nyakabande, Kisoro District. Amongst other problems, their main challenge is access to clean water. I pledged to support them, and yesterday our team delivered the 10,000 litre water-tank to them. While we strive to change our country and have a better governed society, it's important that we do the little we can to improve the lives of our people as we struggle to change their lives fundamentally.

I am impressed by the progress of the works on the major roads in the city, and I thank the political leadership of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and the technical staff for supervising the construction projects. We also visited Kadiba Stadium and inspected the ongoing works as Uganda prepares to host the Africa Cup of Nations next year.
