India and Nepal share deep-rooted historical, cultural, and people-to-people ties, and this incident is not a reflection of how India sees Nepal. The recent events at KIIT have been deeply troubling. Following the tragic death of Prakriti Lamsal, allegations have emerged that the university’s management, faculty, staff, and security personnel behaved in an inhumane and deeply unbecoming manner, few unverified videos also suggest that. After her passing, Nepali students protesting were allegedly subjected to verbal and physical abuse by university security and staff. A shocking video from campus appears to show a faculty member mocking Nepali students This is beyond insensitive—it is unacceptable. The Embassy of Nepal in India has intervened, ensuring Nepali students can stay in their hostels and calling for a fair and transparent investigation. The institution has now asked Nepali students to return, while earlier they had asked them to vacate. The Government of Nepal, including the Foreign Minister and Prime Minister, are closely monitoring the situation. The Indian Embassy in Nepal is also actively engaged and extending all necessary help in this regard. I am reliably told that the Odisha government has taken this matter seriously and is working with the Nepali embassy and other Indian authorities to address concerns. This demands swift action, accountability, and justice. Some speculate it could be due to an earthquake that struck a part of Tibet that stands opposite the Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts of Nepal. Tough there is no basis yet to conclude that Chinese authorities deliberately released water into the river's basin a group of anonymous Nepali journalists have blamed China. Or to be precise construction in Glacial areas along the China – Nepal border had damaged the sensitive ecosystem and contributed to recurring avalanches, which in turn triggered the flash flood. Many hundreds of thousands of people in Nepal and Tibet have lost their homes, several, including Indian tourists, are dead. But given that the Bhote Koshi–Trishuli system feeds into the Narayani/Gandak and eventually flows into the Ganga, West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Saran & Vaishali should remain vigilant. This may not become a major flood in India. But it's best to be vigilant. Which is why the Centre has issued advisories to Bihar. Indeed, this is the curse of lower riparian states. It isn't just Nepal but India also has to be extremely worried about water security risks from China. This is because China controls the upper reaches of critical transboundary rivers like the Brahmaputra, known as the Yarlung Tsangpo in Tibet, and can potentially influence water flows through its upstream infrastructure, while India has limited visibility into what happens upstream. What's most worrying is that India and China have no comprehensive, binding water-sharing treaty. #WATCH | Nepal: On several pilgrims and volunteers of Isha Foundation's Sacred Walks (Kailash Mansarovar Yatra) missing or stranded in Nepal amid the flood situation, Maa Gambhiri, Coordinator at Isha Sacred Walks, says, "This was a very unexpected situation that happened because the group was just returning to Kathmandu and they were at the China Immigration Center. When we last spoke to them at 9:05 am, the group leader, Praveen, told us that they had just reached the immigration center and that they were going to start the immigration process. Within 10 minutes, when we tried to contact them again, they were not reachable. This entire tragedy happened within those 10 minutes. We lost touch with the entire group because the entire communication system was down... we've been waiting for an update. On the Nepal side, all the communication systems were down. I think they tried sending some helicopters to get some information. The town on the Nepal side, where 3 of our volunteers were stationed, was completely washed away. A total of 80 people were affected by this. We are still hoping that we will have some information soon from the Chinese authorities, hopefully by tomorrow morning. We are hoping against hope that we will get to hear some good news on this." Speaking about 77 pilgrims that left stranded amid the flood situation in Nepal, she says, "They were from the US, Canada, Australia, Singapore, various countries in Europe, and the UK. We also had people from some of the Asian countries. We had participants from 19 countries. A lot of them were of Indian origin... We have contacted all 19 embassies in India and Nepal. We are in touch with them. They are also looking at how to support us and get some information. But because the tragedy happened in a very remote area and on a very massive scale, I think information is very slow to come by..."

Gagan Thapa worked very hard — day and night to earn your vote. He did not just did a couple of dance steps and lied to people like “Fiste” and “Gajadi” did.
