My dad had friends who only worked three days a week and closed their businesses because top marginal income tax rates were as high as 83% from the mid 70s onward. Investment income tax was even higher. They only started working full-time after Thatcher lower taxes. Socialism doesn't work. Wake up you idiots!

They believe that raising the minimum wage to $30/hr will raise people out of poverty. Why not raise it to $3,000/hour. That would really help! It would help put those hourly workers into unemployment faster. Flipping burgers was never mean to provide a middle class income.

This is why taxes should be a flat tax of 10% on businesses or individuals. If businesses make a ton of money they can grow the business or share with the employees. We should also make it illegal for businesses or unions to donate to politicians or political parties.

Reminds me, as a young single man in the late 1970s selling cars, I would infuriate my sales manager as I basically would stop selling each month when I had reached 1000.00 in take home as the tax rates where ridiculous the more you made even in small stages. In 1977 a 1000.00 a month was equivalent to approx 5500.00 today. More than enough for my situation at the time. I was often in the running for salesman of the month when I laid off selling. Since I still on average was one of the top salespeople they kept me on.
