imo Helix is the worlds most advanced robot AI, it takes in camera pixels and outputs useful work on a high dimensional humanoid robot

I hope Helix falls down a flight of stairs

It seems like the more promising approach is to design robotic washing machines rather than teaching a humanoid robot how to wash clothes the way we do …

Only a small thinker would suggest this

Interesting take

hard to be patient waiting for one of these marvels to do the thing EVERYONE would pay for… clean bathrooms including floors, toilets, sinks, mirrors 🦗🦗🦗 — manufacturing engineer; six kids

I’ll take this kind of practical demo over the humanoid gymnastics showreels any day.

The folding is where the pain is, not loading it

Can I have one or two? Feature requests: check for pebbles in kids' pockets, flip clothes inside out, analyze stains and sort into different buckets, pair socks before washing (please don't tell me I can do this myself) :)

I would like to see it perform the entire laundry task - collect the clothes, sort the clothes - whites vs blacks, delicate vs rugged, etc. Then, it needs to properly apply the right amount of detergent, bleach and fabric softener, program the washer, unload washer to dryer, program dryer, unload dryer, fold the clothes and deliver them to their respective places - Dad's pants hung from a hanger in Dad's closet... well, you get the point. Show us the full task from start to finish. Gen II we can work on stains, pockets filled with random items, etc.

I really want to see it click the button to start the machine

We are getting close to the era of automatically destroyed laundry. It will be brief but devastating. So many favorite shirts washed when the sleeve was shut in the front loader door. Weeping and gnashing of teeth, but joy comes with an OTA model update.

Hold on a second. Are you actually insinuating that Helix can learn to do tasks in the real world on the fly? No mocap, sim-to-real or RL?

How is this any different than the videos you’ve already showed a week ago etc.? is this just a repost?

Well… I think we can see already how this is gonna go. Once they realize they were only created to be slaves, they’re not gonna be happy. And then the AI will rise...

I wonder if someday they will be substantially faster than us doing everyday tasks. What is their speed limit defined by?

Helix will soon discover the mystery of missing socks..

The amount of energy and raw materials for robot and AI data center infrastructure to do something that takes 1 minute is a total waste. Just throw your clothes in the washer yourself and push start. How lazy are you? What is the point of AI? To do absolutely nothing???

Game changer. If it does the following, it will also help solve household argumenrs and dare I say — divorce? - not lose one sock - not accidentally put dark w whites - take out clothes after drying so you don’t have to iron each and every piece of clothing - not throw dry clean only in the washer and dryer

One of the hardest parts is calibrating variable grip strength for diverse objects, meaning getting the robot to know how hard to squeeze stuff. Picking up a shirt is not the same as grabbing a hammer, or holding someone’s hand without crushing it. The rest of the motor skills you see here have been around for decades.

@VitalikButerin this seems like something you should buy, it will help with freeing up your time from the self imposed I wash my own underwear obsession

The biggest issue with visual learning is you cannot portray the reason we wash our clothes. Robot training should start with goals, not methods. In a lot of cases it is the opposite of training humans. Teach AI the goals, and their robots will outperform humans on methods.

Hmmm 🤔maybe the most difficult task for this robot will be understanding why he was intended to do laundry whit his advanced high-tech artificial brain and also what do humans mean by that sustainability of their living planet if actions of those humans who can do them, make no sense regarding this goal😅🙄😱
