When narratives are twisted, history is erased, and facts are bent to fit a particular narrative, it is a form of gaslighting. This is especially true when it comes to the ongoing tensions in Kashmir, where misleading claims often dominate the conversation. For example, headlines claim the conflict is just a case of India and Pakistan “fighting yet again.” Scholar-activists claim India is a colonial occupier in Kashmir, erasing the indigenous identity of Kashmiri Pandits and the deep historical ties that bind Kashmir to India. Some claim that Kashmiris have no right to self-determination, ignoring the democratic processes and elections that have been held in the region. To respond effectively to these claims, it’s essential to be equipped with not just context and facts, but a constructive mindset: 👉India is not a colonial occupier of Kashmir. Kashmir has been an integral part of India for thousands of years, long before modern borders existed. 👉Kashmiri Pandits are the indigenous people of Kashmir, with roots that go back millennia. 👉Kashmiris do have a say in their governance, as shown by the democratic elections held in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Understand the full picture, push back against misinformation, and stand strong in your truth. WILL MY FATHER’S GENERATION OF INDIAN KASHMIRIS ANSWER - GEN-Z OF INDIAN KASHMIRIS: "Is this the PAKISTAN that my father’s generation of Indian Kashmiris fought for in the name of "Azadi" in the 1990s that completely destroyed India's Kashmir Valley ?" This is a very latest video that has come from Rawalakot city of Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir or PoJK, wherein one can see the dead body of a young Kashmiri Pahari Muslim man named Shafaqat Hussain, who originally hails from BHIMBER region of PoJK, which the Punjabi Muslim dominated state of Pakistan calls as so called "Azad Kashmir". He was shot dead by the dreaded and rogue paramilitary force of Pakistan known as - PAKISTAN RANGERS which is filled mostly by Pakistani Punjabi Muslims from mainland Pakistan's Punjab province. As you can see in the video, he was shot dead, despite Pakistani security forces having declared "cease fire". What is the worst ? The state of Pakistan has virtually closed down all major government hospitals in PoJK and also ordered private clinics in entire PoJK to close down, which means that severally injured Kashmiri Pahari Muslims of PoJK have nowhere to go for their immediate treatment and they are solely dependent upon makeshift medical centers set up by civil society of PoJK with bare minimum medical equipments and medicines. As an Indian Kashmiri Muslim, my question is to my father’s generation of Kashmiri Muslims: Is this the Pakistan for which you threw India's Kashmir Valley into the vortex of hell in the 1990s by throwing out all Kashmiri Hindu Pandits and allowing Pakistani guns to enter India's Kashmir Valley and destroy an entire generation of Kashmiris ? Will my father’s generation of Kashmiri Muslims introspect and seek forgiveness for their SINS, now that the same PAKISTAN is killing our Kashmiri Pahari brothers and sisters from PoJK ?
