This past Saturday, August 1, Dahi (Dahi) previewed tracks from his new album ‘Black Boy (Alternative)’ at sister dreamer, Lauren Halsey's architectural installation in Inglewood, ahead of the album's August 28 release.⁠ ⁠ A number of the record's collaborators joined Dahi for the set. Childish Gambino (donald) performed their new track "Running." ravyn lenae and Jesse Boykins III joined for "Drowning."⁠ vince, ENIGMA POV, and French Anthony came out for the live debut of "Who Are You." Mez performed "Find Me."⁠ Dahi also revisited hit records he co-produced earlier in his career, including Kendrick Lamar's "Money Trees" and "Count Me Out," as well as Travis Scott's "90210.”

It’s wild how life throws a theme at you ain’t it 🌪️ My life the past few years has felt like a twister…hence why I titled my new album Whirlwind. So when I got the opportunity to write a song for the new Twisters, it was a challenge I couldn’t pass up. Reading Kate’s story, I found a lot of parallels between our lives. We’re both chasing wild and crazy careers, but they make us feel something and give us a sense of home. It is proof that you do not need to understand a language to enjoy music, music is a language of the soul on its own. It is one of the greatest African songs ever made, and it is from Malawi. The song is called “Linny Hoo” and was done by Giddes Chalamanda featuring Namadingo. Giddes Chalamanda is a legendary Malawian musician known for his acoustic folk style and for performing with a banjo. The collaboration with Namadingo revived the song and made it popular across Africa. He was 90 years old in 2020 when this video was made, an amazing legend. Enjoy and have fun over the weekend🎼
