This is a very important conversation because almost no one else on Bill Maher’s side is willing to admit what’s happening. Maher just brought up the mask phenomenon on the left while talking with neuroscientist Andrew Huberman. As Maher pointed out, COVID was five years ago, yet if you... look at an image from a DSA meeting last week, you would think the pandemic was still raging. Huberman, who has studied the human brain extensively, came to the same conclusion as Maher: this is a political statement. MAHER: “It’s a political statement.” HUBERMAN: “Yeah, I was thinking a lot about this recently. I think it relates to the Banksy painting.” “You know, the mask with the protester. I think It’s a political statement, right?” “Also when people wear masks I often think, you know they have this…I don’t want to call it an advantage, but they have a vantage point where they can see you but you can’t really see them. Went to the grocery store. Masks weren’t in yet. People were friendlier, more patient, making eye contact and conversation. 2 days later, masks required by the store. People were rude and impatient and unfriendly. Only difference was the damn masks.

In this hard world, although there are people who look at the hard times in a good way, & there are also people who don’t look at it in a good way… but since it’s a world where we lived together, there's nothing we can do about it, right? But those kind of, “ah I went to the psychiatrist & I collapsed” I don’t think you have think of that. It’s just, “I am having a hard time these days so I’m just going to get help for it” just think of it as if you caught a cold. I hope you don’t think of this deeply. Of course you can go. If your stomach hurt, you can go to the internal medicine, if your head hurts, you can go to the Otolaryngology. It’s just that your heart is having a hard time for a while. This is not something to be ashamed of, you don’t need to read the air with the people around you for this. In this hard world, although there are people who look at the hard times in a good way, & there are also people who don’t look at it in a good way… but since it’s a world where we lived together, there's nothing we can do about it, right? But those kind of, “ah I went to the psychiatrist & I collapsed” I don’t think you have think of that. It’s just, “I am having a hard time these days so I’m just going to get help for it” just think of it as if you caught a cold. I hope you don’t think of this deeply. Of course you can go. If your stomach hurt, you can go to the internal medicine, if your head hurts, you can go to the Otolaryngology. It’s just that your heart is having a hard time for a while. This is not something to be ashamed of, you don’t need to read the air with the people around you for this.
