@Rod80087355 They refuse to let pensioners work, people might want to work 1 or 2 days a week and the can only earn a small amount before it effects their pension, in New Zealand they let you get a pension and work and if you feel like seasonal work on a farm for a week you take home the lot

@KatyKray73 I’m a qualified accountant and I owned my own business before going to bed perfectly fine one night and essentially waking up 2 hours later in a wheelchair. Neurologist said it was akin to a catastrophic brain injury, while I would love to be able to work I can’t.

@KatyKray73 Multiple Sclerosis affects different people in different ways. I was part of a global trial for a new medication (that IS extremely effective and I still take today) but the neuro changed the doses and I got dealt the consequences.

Hearing you. 3 kids, single and working full time and I get calls and msgs the day after my elec bill is due saying, You are at Rick of disconnection. That’s after the bill come in at $835 and only owe $135. The only thing that has gotten me through so far is the 10c cans, in the past month it’s given me $447.80.

Look at how much they have spent on expensive plane tickets and addition spending when they are working, at taxpayers expense, they couldn’t care less.

Talk to your parents who's mortgages jumped from 6% to 18% at the same time as industry closing down all over the country. A lot of us saved the home. We learned to shop by protein per dollar, and spent all our money for meals in one go, so everyone was well fed even if there no money left over for treats, hair & makeup.

My parents came to this country as refugees and worked their way back up, I saw all the sacrifices they made.

Likewise. I was a first generation Aussie, and the memories of how suddenly politics & war could take everything you had, were very fresh, to the point where we grew up grateful for rich blessings if there was water in the tap & a roof over your head.

It certainly does instill a gratitude for the small things in life.

I agree it doesn't have to be this way which is why we should be focused on offering solutions rather than complaining and promoting victimhood. Positive attitudes don’t help people in desperate situations. I too believe in a positive attitude and a good work ethic brings great opportunities. But the more I speak to people the more I realise, for a lot of people, it’s getting out of control. Cost of living is exceeding incomes.

Some people only look at their income tax and think it is ok. Try adding GST for anything you buy or sell, fuel, cigarette, alcohol, stamp duty, council rates, capital gains tax, land tax; anything you can poke a stick at. Once you add that to your income tax, how much are you really paying? It is way over 50%. FYI serfs in medieval times paid 50% of their produce to their master. Serfs were slaves so what does that make you? Even more of a slave when your total income tax and hidden taxes go up to 60-80%. This is not freedom; this is abuse via excessive tax. It is not fair or just.
