This is actually a good argument for religion lol

Pete Holmes seems like a good dude.

Let all in creation call Yahweh the author of confusion before ANY OF ELISE OYINKROMEINEIFA'S PRAYERS AND DECLARATIONS ACCORDING TO HIS WILL ON X AND EVERYWHERE, VERBAL TOO ARE EVER STOPPED, OVERTURNED, EFFECTED EVEN 0.1% in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth u900gtefsfbaiCnYH

Well, where does god come from?

great question

Not really. We don’t even know if the universe ever began anyway. It could be eternal. Time before the Big Bang can also be construed as possibly nonsensical. Point is we don’t know. But there’s no reason either to insert religion into gaps in knowledge.

The best part is knowing this is the Batman from the college humor sketches.

Yea, I have to say, that's one of the best explanations I've heard for a creator. Nobody knows... Neither science nor religion. Both belief systems are based on faith because our combined knowledge isn't sufficient to explain our birth. 🤔

Makes sense until you realize the universe has always existed and has always gone through cycles of expansion and contraction. The big bang wasn't a beginning, it was an expansion. Everything can't come from nothing. Everything always has been, and always will be.

In fact, it isn't. It requires one to accept the word of another who proudly exhibit his bias. His is not a neutral observation. It also requires one to accept a false syllogism and a dichotomy that is questionable at best, the "God or Nothing" proposition.

I think it’s a good argument for spirituality

The thing about this is that you ignore the idea that the void itself is consciousness.

I think everyone on earth, at least once in their life, should read the Bible

Amazing

Dang I been missing this dude, where he been

The idea of a creator and the idea of everything just popping out of nothing all the sudden for no reason are equally absurd. Thinking you know the actual nature an origin of the universe, basing our life around it and trying to convince everyone else that you are right is even more absurd.

I’m coming back here… depending on how I did, might end up in Detroit

"Time applies only within the universe, but when you get to the universe as a whole, obviously no standard of time is applicable. You cannot get outside the universe. The universe is eternal in the literal sense: non-temporal, out of time." — Leonard Peikoff (paraphrased).

It’s not an argument for anything. Does anyone think a mystical “nothing” created everything? And why is “God” the only alternative? The real answer is: I don’t know, and neither does anyone else.

actually it's really not just because the universe didn't "come from nothing" doesn't mean it MUST have been created by god.

God had to come from nothing also.

Religion is an organized set of beliefs about the worship of a diety or greater being. The belief in God is just called theism, which is really not dependent upon a religion, but Gods existence is what most religions revolve completely around. A person can believe in God but be skeptical of some religions. Belief in God is not about faith, its about experience. Ive experienced God just like ive experienced the ocean and people who tell me god doesnt exist might as well say the same thing about air or the ocean because i have breathed and swam in both.

It's super weird that people haven't already thought about this before? Like isn't this the most basic observation?

@Puddy_Woodson @justin_morrett

Not so much a good argument for religion as much as a good argument against militant atheism and scientism. Truth is we have a limited capacity to understand reality. That's why I choose agnosticism. Seems like the only honest option. We can speculate, but we don't know.

Terrible argument 🤡

It takes more faith to believe in impossible rates of random chance than an intelligent creator.

The more I learn about the universe, from the 100s of billions of stars in the Milky Way galaxy to the trillions of other galaxies in the observable universe, it only makes me believe in the existence of God. This video captures it well.

Nah, simple and easily overcome.

Science does not say that there was "nothing" before the big bang.

@ChrissieMayr It really is

Actually yeah. Best I have ever heard - nothing person here;)

if you cant figure out how ludicrous his argument is, there is no help for you btw the real question isnt what or who created the univers but rather why is there existens instead of non existens. your god exists? then he is involved in the question and doesnt suffice as an answer

@DougTenNapel thought you might get a laugh, from a 'nothing' person =P

I went through a phase in my 20s where I split from my very religious upbringing. But I could never get past the idea that there must be something eternal because if you go back far enough, something started this. Now that I'm older, I'm religious again.

Pretty good 🤣

Because Science can’t yet prove something doesn’t validate some complex made up mythology as the only alternative.
