I don’t think they meant to sexualize the girl shorts. I think they just made them as if they were making women’s apparel. Their actual ages and body frames were probably an afterthought thought. But I definitely understand the mom on why she did what she did.

I have teenage girls. Trying to find clothing that doesn’t make them look like they should making their way to their designated street corner is hard. We went to a back to school thing at their high school and I was flabbergasted by how many girls were dressed inappropriately.

Yes. I noticed this when I was looking for clothes for the kiddo recently. Little girl clothes are so revealing compared to boys clothes (same style). Tank tops, shorts, etc all more revealing and short. Don't even get me started on bathing suits. No 5 year old girl needs a bikini. 😑

First, males have external bits that require extra fabric to cover. Second, females are generally smaller overall. Third, if you don't like the size, buy bigger or buy boys. No one is putting a g to your head and making you buy it. Market will ultimately decide.

Sexualising young girls is a thing. This is sold to 10-12 year olds in Norway. That is just wrong.

My daughter prefers boy shorts for this reason. When I took her to the girls section to look at shorts at around age 5, she asked if they were underwear and was uncomfortable with them. We've shopped the boys section since then. Amazon has a broader color assortment.
