Splinter Cell Chaos Theory has an interesting way of handling animations. Instead of switching from a crouching animation to an idle one (like most games), I think it freezes the frame of the animation that was playing instead, and adds a "breathing" movement on top?

🐺: I still remember the words that a somnia wrote in a letter a long time ago, "It felt like Siyeon was going back to the stage instead of going up to the stage". Those words really left an impression on me. I interpreted it as meaning that the place I was supposed to be is the stage. This was awesome. I got the opportunity to describe to Rick Rubin how I make Founders podcast: “Steph Curry was asked: What do you think of when you're taking a shot? And he said: Absolutely nothing. I’ve had people ask me how I choose what to highlight. What are you thinking of when you're doing this? And my response is: Nothing. I just read and if something jumps out to me I don't think at all, I just underline it. And then I'll go back through and reread all my highlights. And if that part is still interesting, it was interesting the first time, now it's interesting the second time, it's probably interesting to other people. There's 10 million mes out there. I'm not unique. And there's no way that if I read this line twice and found it interesting that if I read it on a podcast that somebody else is not going to think it's interesting too. If I overthink it or if I think of “oh this person might hear it” or “oh this many people will hear it” that gets in the way. I'm thinking of nothing.”

In 2021, I discovered and recreated a mind-blowing physical privacy project: a custom baseball cap fitted with infrared diodes that can hide you from surveillance cameras (hello, Flock!). It was an incredible experience, but unfortunately there weren’t enough buyers. I just stumbled across an old video from that time… The most fascinating (and slightly unsettling) part of this tech is that, in theory, you could make a facial-recognition camera see a completely different person instead of you. Pretty dangerous stuff! Do you think there’s still demand for devices like this? 🤔
