He is almost there..what’s missing in this analysis is the misogyny and hatred of the feminine. Homosexuality is seen as feminine adjacent and I believe a lot of hostility to gay men is because it’s an acceptable outlet for rage against women.

I love the take. However to deconstruct the heterosexual black males dormant envy that manifests into rage we have to really have the conversation of WHY? And who has programmed them? But NOBODY ever wants to have that conversation. 🤷🏽‍♂️

@Geminitwin312 I cant stand heterosexual blk men & make it a point to avoid yall. However objectively speaking yall are force to suppress any form of humanity. Last year they were calling u bandits gay for eating crab boils, smoking hookah, & riding in the car w/ your friends😂its so ridiculous

Can we add religion into this conversation? Specifically Christianity and how it has its hook so deep in the community which in turn causes homophobia and misogyny.

I wish they were ready for that conversation.

I feel like what you’re missing is the fact that gay Black men are not free, a lot of us took our freedom in our own hands. We grew up in the hood, we were told not to be the things we are. And instead of letting those people tell us what we can and cannot do, we did what we want

I agree with everything said and would like to add that the older BM who condemn individuality and paint this picture that masculinity has to look like one specific thing are the problem. It’s one thing to wanna be cool as a youth but BM don’t seem to grow out of that.

You don’t even have to use homosexuality in the hood specifically for this example. Literally anything other than the thug arch within the hood is juxtaposed as more freeing and could warrant envy. There’s also the goofy kid “archetype” which can literally be anybody.

I agree. Which is also why you see a lot of men publicly bash gay people but in private participate in gay acts. Everyone wants the opportunity to live in their truth no matter who you are and what that truth is. If you can’t, you become envious and hateful of those who can

Also the dreams that are often accomplished by gay black men . I had a conversation with with my cousin about how free I was because I don’t have to pay any of my six figure income to child support and kids! How he can’t make his dreams come true with the little money he has!

I agree but please include black gay men are very high achievers. If we’re being honest they are the ones obtaining multiple degrees with a top notch career trajectory. If not, they’ve mastered the arts in some form or fashion. They’re able to navigate life very easily .

idk how some people can’t see alot of flaws in this take. The title says BM but the video he talks about BM in the hood. BM in the hood aren’t the only experience of BM or even the majority: think the issue is taught homophobia but actual or inherent envy.

@3XJawn Big thing he missed is the creation of the this or that. U either a wannabe thug outwardly or u gay. growing up it happens so early it’s sick af. This why I say the blk community queers it’s men. bc nothing wrong with the arts/tech/nerdy/(insert regular non thug criminality)

As a gay man, with common sense and an academic background, Go UC Berkeley. I felt what you expressed, there is a lot of resentment between hetero and homosexual men, it feels like this with man 6 brothers and with men outside of them.

Why is there always this focus on the African American male to deconstruct or psychologize the motivations behind his actions? I always find myself asking the question why these subjective theoretical analyses aren’t just as much to the males of other ethnic, or ppl groups?

I think he’s correct, this is true for feelings about the gay community at large. It’s not a coincidence that Grindr crashes at gop events. They’re in a place supporting a party that actively harms gay ppl, while secretly being gay. It’s why I’m skeptical of vehement homophobes.

silly rage. unresolved/unprocessed trauma but also especially: hetero men, humans in general, need to have the courage to b who they authentically are in the world w/ their authentic desires, esp if it means concurrently conjuring the courage to b disliked for it stop herd mentality

I’m a homosexual man that grew up in the hood. I didn’t get bullied in the hood or in school by boys. Belive it or not I was accepted and protected by men. It was always girls who tried to bully me and still till this day. Girls fought me. They hated me and I never knew why. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Black men will be far beyond where they're at right now if they just take back their power of autonomy and stop tying it to sexuality and letting society use that against you. That's the problem.

To preface a PUBLIC assertion with "pro or con your opinion on my assertion doesn't matter" is leaning towards strategic and manipulative. The masculine focus for BLK ppl is centered in powerlessness against white violence. Work more on your publicly expressed dissertations...

I think saying that heterosexual Black men only have a couple of avenues to persuade is ludicrous.
