At first glance, this ship appears to be in the middle of a disaster, but the visual is actually a display of high-level maritime engineering. This vessel is purposefully designed to submerge its main deck deep underwater to facilitate the transport of massive, heavy-lift cargo that traditional cranes simply cannot handle. The Xin Guang Hua is a state-of-the-art semi-submersible vessel operated by COSCO Shipping. With a deadweight of 98,000 tons, this heavy-lift giant is the second largest vessel of its type in the world, surpassed only by the Dockwise Vanguard. It operates by flooding its ballast tanks to sink its deck below the waterline, allowing cargo such as oil rigs or other ships to be floated into position. Once the cargo is safely centered and secured, the ship pumps the water out, rises back up, and carries the load high and dry across the ocean. This approach utilizes the physics of buoyancy to handle immense weight with precision. This lift, known to locals as “The Gambler” was installed 3 years ago and had to do rope evacuations the first 2 seasons stranding gusts for 45+ minutes. Whitefish Mountain Rsort and Leitner Poma released a video last year stating it was fixed with replaced parts boards etc. It just shut down again last Sunday for 20+ minutes in heavy snow which is always when it shuts down. At this point… it’s not even up for discussion that the lift is a major problem with ongoing engineering problems. Lift Blog had zero interest in the information provided but he’ll tell you about tariffs!🤡🤖
