To think people are still having to work in coal mines in 2024 just to survive and feed the family is absolutely ludicrous. This is not 1920 that university should be setting up that family instead of giving VIP tickets to a game…

Yes it is. You go to your kid's games straight from work or any other way you can if you are a good parent. Bad parents never go often because they are drunk or on drugs when they aren't cheating on their spouse too. Their kids are simply in the way of their enjoying life.

FYI, lots of blue collar dads do this. My husband drove 10 hours one way from the oil fields of ND to surprise our daughter and not miss her birthday when she was little. Then he slept & drove 10 hours back. My husband has driven through blizzards not to miss his kids’ activities
