This is Bill Maher at his absolute best. Maher stunned his audience by AGREEING with JD vance that Western civilization is worth defending, and it’s better than the rest. The room ERUPTED and Maher dropped his final nuke: “And if you’re not clapping spend a week in a Muslim...

Bill Maher gets testy with a liberal guest who calls a Mamdani win in New York a “good thing.” Kate Bedingfield really tried her best to defend Mamdani, but Maher got a round of applause when he pressed her with this inconvenient fact: BEDINGFIELD: “I think that if Mamdani wins … I think that’s a good thing for the Democrats.” MAHER: “Well, you make it sound like he’s a little more mainstream than I think he is. I mean, the issue now that Andrew Cuomo is bringing up in New York is that he is a Ugandan citizen. Uganda’s a country where they kill homosexuals.” BEDINGFIELD: “So somebody who is a dual citizen can’t be mayor of New York or?” MAHER: “If I was a dual citizen with a country whose policy, government policy, was we kill homosexuals. Yeah, I would renounce that citizenship!” (Round of applause) BEDINGFIELD: “I think that is buying into a fear framework that is not good for the country.” MAHER: “You shouldn’t be afraid of that?” Bedingfield pushed the narrative that Cuomo was “race-baiting” and “suggesting that Mamdani couldn’t be a leader in a terror situation if he were mayor of New York and God forbid something else like 9/11 happened.” That angle didn’t work either. Maher replied: “Well, he did campaign with the terrorists… He campaigned this week with a guy who was an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and served as a character witness for Omar Abdel-Rahman, the terrorist who organized it.” “So Sarah Palin used to say Obama palled around with terrorists, which was bullsh*t. But…” Maher said with a long pause, hinting that it’s not a bullsh*t claim in the case of Mamdani. “I just don’t know if this is a great look for the party. I really don’t.”

Bill Maher: “Did they go too far, probably, in the Pentagon with DEI and—yes, and now Pete Hegseth is like firing everyone who’s not whiter than an albino.” Vice President JD Vance: “No, he’s not! Come on, Bill!” Bill Maher: “It certainly looks that way. Nothing lands in the middle!” Vice President JD Vance: “I disagree with that. I think sometimes things land right where they should, but you take the story about Pete Hegseth. Obviously, I’m biased; I like Pete, but if you look at the actual promotions we’ve done, there have been a lot of people from all walks of life.” “There have been some high profile people, where he said, you know what, I don’t think they merited a promotion. But the idea we are not promoting minorities in the Pentagon under Pete Hegseth it’s just not true.” “And I do think that sometimes your criticism is things don’t land in the middle, and I understand that. Sometimes the problem is the media reports things in such a way where they actually obfuscate or conceal the truth rather than reporting what’s actually going on.” *Audience Cheers* Bill Maher: “Of course they do, they all do! That’s why you have to read both sides.” Vice President JD Vance: “My recommendation is if you read a news story and it says something bad about me, you should disbelieve it; it’s probably lying. Whereas if you read a news story and it says something nice…” Bill Maher: “That’s one way to look at it.”

Something interesting just happened on Bill Maher’s own show — Vice President Vance won over the liberal audience with a defense of Pete Hegseth. Maher accused Hegseth of race-based firings, but Vance pushed back hard, saying the media is distorting the truth. Maher’s audience erupted in applause the moment it landed. MAHER: “Did they go too far, probably, in the Pentagon with DEI and...yes, and now Pete Hegseth is like firing everyone who’s not whiter than an albino.” VANCE: “No, he’s not! Adam Carolla just exposed the entire Democrat playbook right in front of Bill Maher — and Maher clearly didn’t like what he was hearing. Carolla broke down how, no matter what Trump accomplishes, the Democrats’ only cudgel against him is chaos and agitation. Maher tried to flip the script, but Carolla held his ground. CAROLLA: “I think ultimately, you know, people care about gas prices and egg prices and, you know, stability and, you know, their paycheck and affordability and like, basic stuff, you know, can you afford a house and stuff like that?” “And I think if, if Trump comes through with all that stuff, then I think, most of America will sort of be okay with it.” “I don’t think the Democrats are going to be okay with it, because they’re going to sort of agitate. And I think essentially the plan is chaos and agitation.” “And then a sort of a ‘don’t you want this to stop?’” Maher looked bewildered. MAHER: “You think it’s the Democrats who are agitating?” CAROLLA: “I do.” MAHER: “Really?” “There’s some agitating on the right. Come on. I mean ICE is agitating. Even they’re admitting it now…” Carolla delivered a point about ICE Maher couldn’t argue with. CAROLLA: “Right, but they go to states and municipalities where they just go do their job. And there isn’t shots and bottles of whatever.” MAHER: “They do, and I always like to look from, you know, as a history major, like what will the historians say when they write about this in 100 years?” “Well, first of all, a lot of shit will have happened. So it’ll only get a paragraph. And that paragraph will probably begin with, because the Biden administration went so far with letting in illegal immigrants.” “There was a backlash that followed in the Trump and then blah blah blah and all his excesses there. So everything, every action is, is a reaction.”
