After watching these 3½ hours of martial arts, when it built up to the tournament at the end of 'Five Fingers of Death' & Lo Lieh is running to get to the tournament, everyone's really into it. The fights are going on & stuff but that part at the end when all of a sudden his FISTS GLOW RED & you know he is gonna use the iron fist & they start playing the ironside theme [Quincy Jones' theme], he shows to the audience that the fists are blowing red, the audience LOST THEIR MIND. I've had audiences at the New Beverly lose their mind when we show that film, at that moment. But with those audiences at that environment and coming at the end of over 3 hours of martial arts mayhem & building up to that release it was one of the greatest cause & effect I had ever seen of genre cinema, of action cinema; literally an ORGASMIC feeling in a connection between of not just you but the crowd around you, everyone responding. Other than in uproarious comedies, you never have that relationship with the audience, but you wouldn't in an action movie in normal theaters but in this theater you did."
