Rookie move. You let him take the AB then challenge only if he gets on base.

Why are they putting pine tar on aluminum bats? Are their batting gloves and custom bat grips not enough?

Smart catcher

Tricky tack, chicken shit move by the catcher. The umpire should have simply requested some alcohol to clean off the 1 to 2 inches of excess pine tar. Yes, the rule was broken, but not to the point where it couldn’t have been remedied very quickly.

Some coach is getting tossed. And that coach would have been me if I was there. Absolute BS, bush league move at that level.

FYI. That kid was the winning pitcher in game 1 and scored the winning run in game 2. Won Gold For Team USA 18u and is headed to UGA to play baseball. @MatthewSharman9

Catcher was wrong....should've waited until after the AB and then challenged it 😁

Last time I saw that pulled was George Brett against the Yankees.

Rules are rules I guess. The catcher would be getting one or more high and tight if the situation allows.

Ump thinks he is recreating the George Brett blowup. I dont think you can just call him out for that. Im pretty sure he has to use it then he can be called out. At that point I think all they can do is make him use a diff bat.

What he say to Catch walking by to make Catch shrug his arms and look into dugout?

Yes it did happen in 1983 to George Brett and is doesn't really matter.

You sound like Hillary,,,"what difference does it make!" If you like it or not, it is the rule. Kudos to the catcher for his awareness.

In the age of Trump, not following the rules is sadly a badge of honor.

Batter is out and the head coach is restricted to the dugout, and if it happens again, batter is out and coach is ejected. --high school ump

You’d be a terrible competitor if you didn’t take easy outs from your opponent.

People all offended at the catcher but let players jump around like retarded monkeys when they hit a solo shot down by 5.
