Rules were quite unique. Only 8 players per side. Matches were of 14 overs. Every member of the team apart from the wicketkeeper had to bowl. Instead of sixes, there were 8s. That's what the signal is for in the above video. Batters were to retire after reaching 50 but could come

back if balls were left in the innings. Besides, the last remaining batter could also play alone. The matches were played outside of the usual cricket season (basically in winters) and under lights in stadiums meant for Rugby. Cricket Australia even took the format to Malaysia

and a Super 8s World Cup was proposed but it never materialised. However, the Super 8s tournaments held in Kuala Lumpur played a major role in Gilchrist getting noticed for his big hitting. Talking about Gilchrist and Dean Waugh, he once recalled a sledging incident involving the 3 Waughs.

Gilchrist was in the opposition for this match when his team after getting Steve and Mark out had to bowl to Dean Waugh. But Dean didn't look entirely comfortable during his time at the crease, leading to his own teammate coming down the pitch and asking him, 'Are you sure you are not the adopted one?'

Dean Waugh, 3 years younger to the twins who played close to 300 Test between them, played 1 First Class match and 5 List A matches. There was also another Waugh brother who played cricket, Daniel Waugh. He is 10 years younger to Mark and Steve.

Dean Waugh batting has lot of similarities with Steve ..similar stance before hitting the ball

Didn't you detect a bit of both Steve & Mark in the way that shot was played? Started Mark, finished Steve.

True

That Six over cover looked like Steve Waugh was getting out of the crease to crunch it

looks Mark bats Steve
