Did the tourist trip, riverboat down the Mile, etc back in ‘99. Where Cairo was concerned, tourist areas and routes generally were clean and shiny, but get off the main drag, or get looks down side streets, you start to see this stuff. Sort of the cognitive dissonance thing.
