The quality of English spoken in Nigeria decades ago reflected a time when education was treated as a genuine national priority. Today, the contrast is hard to ignore, standards have slipped, and it shows in how people communicate. It’s a reminder of how far our educational system has drifted from what it once aimed to be.

Goes to show that our parents were thinking of industries capable of producing at larger scale and competing with global industries. In the present generation, Nigerians are competing with against each other region bs region and tribe vs tribe. No global view

This is why I hate government apologists so much. They are being gracious to a ruling class which hasn't solved any problem since 1960.

They soon started selling those import licences on the black market to the highest bidder. Creating powerful import monopolies that decimated local industries, compounded by a lack of investment as the oil boom took off. Nigeria quickly became an import state till date.

Nigerias problems has been played from the beginning. Poor policies, incompetent leadership & mediocrity. Nigeria was never set on the right part to flourish. 98% of factories in Nigeria uses their own generates power. Using giant generators, boilers or gas turbines. Expensive

Energy has to be affordable for any serious government ready for production. You see senseless Nigerians making case why petrol should be 1500 naira and they forget fuel is the most common source of energy everyone uses, why wont things we expensive when cost of energy is high ?

Same thing with Cutix Cables PLC. Whenever Cutix is smelting Copper wire to the Standard length, to avoid cutting and stopping at sub-substandard length... The private Generators are used to produce a continuous power supply to avoid the shortages associated erratic supply.

This is the problem of companies in Nigeria. High cost of production. You will produce an item in nigeria to sale at a low profit margin of 2000 naira. While someone will import same goods from china and can comfortably sale at 1,600. Same product different producer and country. No sane business man will like to continue with the trajectory. Government has a role to play to enable a favourable working environment. Until we do that, our industries will keep shutting down and jobs will be going.

I lived in Agbara for a year. My word. It felt like I wasn’t living in Nigeria. They had their own sewage plant, power grid, and implemented road system. I wonder if it is still the same today

For those who called @PeterObi an IMPORTER, watch this. It is the duty of FG to create the ENABLING ENVIRONMENT for LOCAL PRODUCTION. If they don't, the businessman CANNOT produce locally, but trade as he does NOT want to run at a LOSS. DON'T tell me about MONOPOLIST Dangote.

Nigerian badly needs industrial policy. But firsts she needs the kind of ideologically-driven leadership with the spine, mettle, and strategic vision to pull this off
