This is fucking so long overdue. I'll never understand why this country forces older folks into homes they don't want to go to because they don't have the kind of help they need. Thank you Kamala Harris! 🙌🙏👏🌊🇺🇸

We need this so much. The maze of trying to help someone facing this situation is truly exhausting and extremely expensive. It is painful to see the elderly be placed aside after years of giving their all to survive in a society that discards them in the end.

I retired early to take care of my mother. I live with her. She is Lewy body dementia and stage 4 cancer. Money is tight, however, I don’t qualify for additional support monies. This is much needed.

It would be such a relief to a senior like me. I have no children & I want to stay in my home at the end. With my pups & my things. Not in a nursing home. The saddest place.

Many of these so called senior assisted living places are money grabbing, dumping ground, shitholes. In many civilized cultures, elderly parents are cared for by their kids at home with some state assistance. Oh, but I forgot. That is dreaded socialism.

They need to add a transportation benefit to Medicare as well. I am an NP in a rural area & the elderly cannot get to specialists who are a 1-2 hour drive away. Medicaid has it, why not Medicare.

I don’t know how this works, and I know it’s a financial she’ll game (AT BEST) but I know it would be a game changing thing for millions and millions. We are relatively well off, my parents are comfortable but like many going into a home would destroy them financially and me having to supplement that would destroy us financially, the other option- trying to care for them would be not impossible it certainly would destroy everything I’ve managed to build including my own mental health.

So glad she's doing this. We were the sandwich generation in the 90s -- 00s. We were also older parents for the first time. Now we are the elders.

@cek422 this would allow me to stay in my home as @ 75 yrs old I don’t know what my next step is assisted living &the forced sale of my home to afford it, plus my entire life savings &that would still not be enough then what….I worry about this every single day not knowing what to do

As a former RN from a large healthcare insurer. It is definitely cheaper too care for people in their homes for every 1$ we spend in their homes. We spend 3 in LTC facilities. In some states have very lax policy for who can and cannot do business easily taking advantage of 🤷🏽♀️
