This is funk at its absolute peak.

Clyde! "You don't have to do no soloing, brother. Just keep what you got. Don't turn it loose, 'cause it's a mother!"

Life changing album ! Clyde.... Bootsy....

James Brown is the funkiest organ player most haven’t heard

The sample that launched a thousand ships.

This record has sooooo soooo many musical children, it’s crazy!

Give It Up or Turn it Loose is a monster tune on that album!

@EricsElectrons Drum intro was later sampled by Sublime for their cover of Scarlet Begonias

The inventer, Grandmaster of Funk

This is 🔥

James Brown is the Godfather of Soul because of music like this! But, he fell out of grace when he did a concert in SA during apartheid. My brother and I went to The Apollo Theatre and there were picket lines and Cop across the street. He won us all over again!❤️

Haven’t bought that yet, but I will do now on the strength of that!

When we moved to NYC in Nov 71? He was the hottest on radio, Hot Pants.

The grandmother of hip hop beats

Mon artiste à moi... je vous conseille un album rare, The District of Attorney. Son passage en prison.

Funk is always on the one. Always

AIN’T IT FUNKY

Any idea if JB came up with the grooves or was it a collaborative effort…
