This is genius E-ink art frame called InkPoster Don't get stuck with one artwork/painting forever, just change it whenever you like Imagine setting up scenes/moods for your house, like calm, relaxed, ambitious, agressive and your art all changes etc. (Unaffiliated, just a great idea)

the color gamut on e-ink is insufficient for art. the pics in these are very carefully selected to look good. also e-ink needs almost perfect bright lighting. we tried a few of these, it's not there yet. hopeful for the future though!

Samsung Frame…. Amazon Ember Artline…. HiSense CanvasTV…. LG GalleryTV….. We have had the frame in our living room since 2018 - nearly a decade. You are happy with a product that does one less thing and costs more…. Respectfully

These all use Spectra 6 panels from E Ink (patent holders). reTerminal E1004 from Seeed is a nice hackable option as it's ESp32 based

Once my EO1 is EOL this is a nice replacement.

Just discovered and bought the 13” e-ink frame from Paperless Paper this week. It is a small German company of young tinkering enthusiasts and I like that they are making the product opensource and thus modifiable on the software side. Will report when it arrives!

You can get a little one to play with for ~$100!

That one might give me epilepsy jesus christ

It’s important to have a strong mental shift between focus time and break time.

There are cheaper alternatives. Also considering how little technology is in the actual product, I would argue that the brand wouldn't matter at all.

I have a @bloomin8canvas that I love.

Just perfect to prank your guests by having the same painting modified in uncanny ways so they cannot tell for certain if it changed or not Then make a fully horror frame show up for a second and go back to normal

How’s that different from a monitor? Is it real ink?

Yep eink color

Wow very cool

someone's eventually gonna do this

This is very stupid. TVs tried this already with their special low power modes. Nobody likes this. Art is art because it is something unique and hand made.

I have a set up where the same artwork changes throughout the day to reflect the weather and time of day outside and love it. Think the future of a lot of art and media is user “remixes” with AI

Good idea, insane price

or u could just get ur favorite artwork as physical prints @PicturaLabs 👀 The homepage is gettin a little redone. But the physical printing is already available. Been working on this project for a while. My quite first real long term project so far. Happy 4 some feedback. 🖼️

Curious how long this product lasts without breaking Very cool share

To me the flashings is very distracting, even for something as small as trmnl

It's color eink!

Love to see this launch! Walker and I had tried to build this exact thing ~10y ago but the e-Ink color tech wasn't quite there. Thrilled to see someone make it real. Gonna grab one

The colored e-ink technology by itself is genius and a master piece after 20y of research. I’m happy Amazon Kindle released a e-book with it.

Dope. The price makes me want to keep buying physical numbered lithographs though.

I am want to reuse an old phone for that. But I am still trying to figuring out how…

It's very bad for your health Use color eink

must be there is a chinese version

Idea was great, I ordered one for 800€, but the resolution + visibility under low light was not good enough. Returned it. Maybe next gen eInk is better.

Ohh I'm friends with the person involved in this :)

Did this post make you $20k?

Nope I don't do paid posts ever

NETGEAR Meural Canvas II is often recommended as a premium e-ink digital canvas. A bit outdated, but very good.

Me reading this tweet 3 times just because Pieter says it’s genius

Very cool

Available here 🛒 👇

My buddy got one of those e-ink frames and it's honestly pretty slick, he changes the art to match the season or just his mood, it's become a talking point when people come over.

this is one of those products i didn’t know i wanted until i saw it

Waiting for the AliExpress version

SICK

the mood-based swapping is the real killer feature. change the whole room's vibe without buying new art. curious how the refresh actually looks in person though.

The real self-hosted angle here is hooking it up to a local API that rotates art based on time, weather or mood; e-ink + persistent storage = zero cloud dependency while keeping walls adaptive.
