This is going to cause some issues for the morning commute 🚦 … tree down along Mass Ave a major artery in downtown DC. This is at Sheridan circle by R and 23rd. Crews have been working around the clock trying to clear debris from Saturday’s storm.

Toronto is a BIG city, with 14,700 km of roads and 7,900 km of sidewalks and we’re working on removing the snow in areas that have become unsafe as quickly as possible. 🚙❄️ As of this morning, crews have removed 114,231 tonnes of snow and are still working around the clock.

Mississauga has received up to 45 cm of snow. All of our resources are currently deployed: ▪️Crews have been working around the clock to clear major roads for emergency vehicles and transit. ▪️ Overnight, equipment began moving into residential neighbourhoods to complete the first round of plowing on roads, sidewalks and to clear space in driveway windrows. This work is ongoing. ▪️ Work is also underway this morning to begin clearing bus stops. With so much snow on the ground, clean up on all surfaces will take time. Multiple rounds of plowing will be required to clear snow aside and additional work will be required in the coming days to remove snow from areas where it can’t be piled, such as bridge decks and intersections. ⚠️Reminder: A Citywide Winter Parking Restriction remains in effect until further notice. Remove parked vehicles from the street. #Mississauga #ONStorm

This morning I met with some of our engineers at The City of Bulawayo clock tower to understand what is needed to get our iconic clock and bells working again. The Swiss Ambassador this week kindly offered to lend support to get this magnificent symbol of our City functioning again. As you can hear the bells are still working but we need to rehabilitate the mechanism and clock to get it working properly. Watch this space!

As of this morning, crews have moved so much snow to the RFK site that it’s now a mountain of snow equivalent to two football fields long and nearly two stories tall. That’s the scale of what it takes to keep DC moving after a major ice storm.
