I did a no-buy a few years back when it was first becoming a thing, and it was fantastic. It really does clear your head when you can't bring anything new in. You do need rules, though. Like you don't want to be walking around in tattered clothes. So the general rule is to only replace what is necessary.

If she starts a business as a stylist, or thrift store owner, she can write it all off as a loss on her taxes to help alleviate the debt
