I feel for the young people of today looking at buying a house. In my day, it was about 3x the average wage to purchase a home. In some places now, its 15x wages. Add to that, the government is leaving the future generations with a $1 trillion dollar debt that they'll have to pay off. It's time to wake up to ourselves as a country and get it back on track.

Cleaning is one of the most essential jobs in any society. Without cleaners, our hospitals, schools, offices, markets, airports, and streets simply cannot function. When I talk to young people, what I hear from them, they feel like the only way they can stay in the city is if they keep living with their parents or leave the state entirely. We have to make it a place where they can aspire to dream in the city and also treat them with the seriousness that they deserve because what we'll find in our young people is leadership.

They built confidence, taught responsibility and provided the experience needed to get on. Now, Government decisions are making those opportunities harder to find. Higher National Insurance, rising business rates, new employment regulations and soaring energy costs are piling burden after burden onto the businesses that create jobs. Young people are paying the price. The Government cannot keep looking at each decision in isolation while ignoring the cumulative damage it is doing to jobs, businesses and economic growth. The Labour Government has done enough damage. It needs to think again.
