@FedUpYorkshire Ridiculous - pubs are disproportionately paying higher business rates. We are small businesses too. Why should a Turkish barber or a vape shop pay nothing and we get 20% off ? Many of our rates jumped by 50-200% this year.

Andy, Why don’t you follow @reformparty_uk lead and cut VAT on pubs and hospitality to 10%. They’ve already committed to doing exactly that if they get into power. A small tweak to business rates just doesn’t cut it. If you can’t see that, you’ll soon be left with next to nothing. Get your VAT from somewhere else.

Burnham, who has never started a business, run a payroll where his own money is being used, or signed off a business lease in his life, has decided he knows exactly how to help people who do all three every morning before he's finished his first briefing note. His plan: a new tax. Not on him, obviously. On warehouses. Which will definitely not be passed straight through to the shops renting space in them, and definitely won't mean the online retailers just swallow the cost rather than stumping up slightly more at checkout.
