This guy is killing me

Vintage portable computer from 1986 SONY SMC-210DL6 M35, originally cost $2700.

This gaming PC cost $3,500 29 years ago. 😮

9 grand for that humongous piece of shit, lmfao

$9500 laptop is $24,820.74 in 2025 dollars.

How they felt while pricing them:

That $4999 in 1989 dollars is $13,000 in today's dollars! What's crazy is that people actually had the money back then to buy them!

1989 Sony Watchman FDM-330 Portable Color LCD TV

Computer games in 1983 The Compaq Portable is an early portable computer which was one of the first IBM PC compatible systems

The one guy looks like Dan Akroyd as the sleepy salesman on SNL 😂

Vintage portable computer from 1987 Compaq Portable |l model 2660,

That’s like $3 billion in today’s dollars

I'll stick with my Apple thank you very much.

People have no idea how bad the old LCD screens were. You had to stop moving the mouse to figure out where it is, which is why Windows has that trail feature

Japan is living in the future

Started my insurance business in 1982 with Radio Shack TRS-80 desktops and grew it all through the 80's using only those computers with around 50 employees. Had them all networked and routed to printers. Around 1989 we switched to a Informix/Unix-C based IBM servers. Those old machines were built to run forever.

I paid 3k in 94' for my custom PC tower. These were cutting edge back then. CGA EGA VGA monitor resolutions. VGA was the top. But most retail had CGA. PC games ran in those three modes. But VGA looked amazing back then. Especially w the old Sierra adventure games.

18 years ago, This guy sold his spot in line for $800 for the first iPhone release

Guy w/ the glasses looks like he could fly a suitcase of cocaine into the country for you as well 😂

In 2007, Sony introduced the Go!Cam for the PSP. The camera can store up to 40,000 photos or two and a half hours of video with a 4 GB memory stick.

My first desktop in 1995 was $4,000. Windows 95 Dial up modem, 10 min for a html page to load on the internet. State of the art!

I swear this looks like a SNL sketch, could have sworn the guy in cheesy sunglasses was Dan Ackroyd

This 90s gaming computer was the dream

Not a bad cost given these puppies are still able to run most modern games. That’s the value in buying a premium product and amortizing the cost over 3 and a half decades

I'm sorry, brother, I was sold at 16 grayscales.

Crazy how tech is getting cheaper and food is getting more expensive. What a fucking time to be alive...

And these are more powerful than the machines that sent us to the moon. Incredible

My first laptop was $2,000. Compaq Presario with a 6gb hard drive, 300mh processor, and 64mb of memory. And I had Napster on it 😂

I worked on a Boeing project about that same time where we were running power to desktop computers. A huge room of them (2-300). I asked my foreman why each one had a 3/8ths inch steel cable securing it to the floor, and he said, "They cost a quarter million each." "Oh."

I’m quite certain that in the future, after 40 years, we’ll be watching videos about how much a VR headset like the Vision Pro cost back in 2025.

25 years ago, SpongeBob SquarePants first premiered on television. Time flies

Adjusted for inflation, that $9,000 laptop would be ~$22k today. We now carry more computing power in our pockets for $800. This exponential price-performance improvement is why I tell clients to delay major tech purchases—what's expensive today becomes commodity tomorrow. Moore's Law still delivering ROI. What's the tech purchase you waited on that paid off?
