The only thing that bugged me about it was that the goal was a war of independence. That offended my Canadian sensibilities and Loyalist heritage.

Many years ago on Amiga, I even went through the game files and translated all the in-game menus, messages and game tips to Croatian. I also included names of Croatian colonies and names of our notable people from that time. It was so funny and fun and easy to do. I can see a sscreenshot of Colonization and hear the MIDI music at the same time in my head. Great game.

Colonization! An excellent game that needs a modern remake. P.S. Not reimagining, keep the rules and play, just better graphics.

I never realized that the theme is the Confederate marching song "Join the Cavalry." That is a bizarre choice for a game set in the 17th century.

Almost perfect. They simply forgot to include the PORTUGUESE EMPIRE on tha' game! Just the main Empire of the era which colonized 80% of South America! The Pope literally split the world giving one half to Portugal and the other half to Spain (Tordesillas treaty). That was gross!

Awesome game! The remake was rubbish! I enjoy playing this on the hardest mode and giving myself only 1 port city. All other cities are in the interior and funnel men and supplies to the capital for the war! The King will only attack it! But he will throw everything at it.
