This is how Rush introduced Tom Sawyer last night. This was their first show since 2015. Incredible. ๐

It was absolutely incredible, best show I have ever been to. Hands down.

ooh those seats ๐ค

I saw them in 2015 for their R40 tour, they used the same video to set up Tom Sawyer, it was amazing!

awesome :) i saw them three times in the 80s, starting with Signals. got to see them 40 years later with my son. great show.

@rundtc77 Signals tour would have been awesome

@rundtc77 It was. They played Subdivisions last night which has been one of my favorite Rush songs since I first saw them.

Rush is back? Holy cow! They suffered an endless string of tragedies. Glad they are getting out on tour again afterward.

Yeah. First time I saw them was 1983. I was a little worried how they would replace Neil Peart. I wasnโt worried after hearing Annika for 5 seconds.

@grantstern Rush was my first concert. 1978.

@grantstern damn, thatโs early. 2112?

Love it but not their first show, they played a few songs at the South Park 25th anniversary show at Red Rocks a few years ago

cool. didnโt know that. thanks.

I would have burst into tears of joy

I basically did. It was beautiful, the whole thing.

Omg how amazing!!!

Makes you feel kind of old when you first saw them perform 43 years ago.

Same. 1983 on the Signals tour.

@snsnet Moving Pictures (1981) and Signals Tour 1983 at Maple Leaf Gardens on Carleton in Toronto. Neil would throw those sticks high in the air and catch โem on the way down. I was mesmerized.

@snsnet Ah I bet it was lit in Toronto.

@BrianDuffield It was great finally seeing them live!

@BrianDuffield ๐ค๐ฅ

This makes so much sense. Few years ago they made a surprise appearance at the South Park 25th anniversary show at Red Rocks to cover Closer to the Heart.

Hahaha, I thought you were talking about Rush Limbaugh and found the first 30 seconds of that clip extremely odd.

๐

I remember when they used this back in the Snakes and Arrows tour, around that time I was just starting to get into South Park, I love that Matt and Trey love Rush

Me too. And Rush loves them back. Like Alex Lifeson and Trailer Park Boys. Itโs great. Theyโre the realest rockstars of all.

Honestly itโs fantastic, whatโs even crazier though, in a time where thereโs so much division politically, even in musicโฆboth sides of the aisle have literally come together for their returnโฆmay not be much but I gotta tell ya, definitely gives a little hope

totally agree. last night there was literally zero politics of any kind, on stage or off, neilโs lyrics notwithstanding. it was just rock.

Hell it even got DeSantis tweeting, sadly weโre back to modern times but who would have thought that it would be Rush bringing some bipartisanship back

whatever it takes. i havenโt been with 20,000 people whose politics i have no idea about since the last time i saw them 4 decades ago. the best word i can think of is wholesome.

Amen to that

The Ketamine is just kicking in when I stumbled across this. Thank you. Not kidding.

๐๐๐๐Hell yeah!

so good. 20,000 people having a nerdgasm.

So they updated Cartman/Geddy in that intro... ๐

Awesome. ๐ Been debating going, they have two shows here upcoming. But tickets are high $.

If you can swing it, you wonโt be disappointed. They were in R40 form. And the new drummer is incredible.

Iโll make it somehow. ๐ Have watched the Rush YouTubes on their new drummer. She seems excellent. ๐๐๐ Glad they are doing this. Thanks for the clip!

That is fucking hilarious

Was Bubbles there?

@sportsrage Rush is Canadian though, they donโt look Canadian

I was there!

I saw them once with my oldest brother. Never seen a bigger collection of dorks in once place until they invented comic con. My brother included.

Absofuckinglutely. Last night was wall to wall 60 year old dorks๐

Yep. My brother is 58 ๐คฃ๐คฃ

That was awesome

Rush is just Tool for Gen X. ๐

Uh, Tool is just Rush for whoever Tool is for.

Great lyrics

I am taking my son to see them in September and I can not wait!

@KFFNCOACH Awesome! Lol ๐

Holy fuck the was brilliant โฆ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐

@mr_archenemy RIP Neil Peart. I saw their Time Machine Tour and it was full of hijinks like this

It's been done

Rush almost crumbled Atlanta's Fox Theater in the 70s; at least that's what it felt like. One of the best live bands ever~

I hear they have great new drummer. No one can replace Neal but I hear sheโs dynamite.

How freaking cool!! ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ

theyโve always used this bit. saw it live like 22 years ago

This was created for their Snakes and Arrows tour. I saw this intro to Tom Sawyer when they played in Jacksonville, FL in 2008.

Good song if you ignore the objectivist claptrap in the lyrics.

That was fantastic ๐
