Believe it or not, the JWST has even MORE control than this! Each segment has 7 actuators, giving them the ability to tilt 6° in any direction (as shown) but each segment also has the ability to change its CURVATURE! This allows the mirror to become a perfectly smooth surface!

Having seen this I still don't know how it works.

I need one of those so bad!

This is great but it is not how Webb works. They both have moving hex mirrors but Webb moves them into a very precise location for focus and leaves them there, then turns the whole set of mirrors towards whatever it is examining.

the urge to have this in my home office

Cool….totally cool

Mesmerizing to think about Webb doing that out there, right now, with galaxies.

Anyone know the name of the song playing?

Unique(◍•ᴗ•◍)✧*。w(°o°)w Great place.🐝🌼

That's great, but why do people there have a rags on their faces?
