Energy doesn't get created out of thin air. This turbine is stopping the passing vehicles by a tiny amount, by increasing air drag around them. That uses extra power from those engines, and that energy gets transferred to this turbine.

someone forgot 1st principles thinking. this is a prime example of "looking like you're doing good vs doing actual good" + "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" 1. increased drag for vehicles increases fuel consumption = bad for environment 2. friciton losses leads to less ⚡️ generation than energy lost for the vehicles 3. receiving money for environmental subsidies is also a monetary friction as taxes on people are higher so they can't afford more expensive but sustainable products + during tax collection and subidy handout there are monetary friction losses as the collectors and reviewers need salaries to do the money redirection. inefficient use of resources & energy that goes the opposite way of the intended purpose.

This is what is known as a perpetual motion engine. The turbines work because of the high pressure wave caused by traffic pushing the turbines. This doesn't scavenge waste energy, it uses engine power.

This doesn't work. It sweeps an area of about 2x0.5m, or 1 square metre, per device. A single wind turbine with 137m diameter span sweeps 14,741 square metres. Even if the vehicle wind effect is 4x the natural wind energy, you'd need 3,685 of them to match one offshore turbine!

Why don’t we just put them on the cars themselves? 😂😂😂

Basically, you are making it more difficult for vehicles to drive by, who then burn more gas. So there is no real net gain here.

Cool! A gasoline powered fan generator! What will they think of next? How about a whale oil powered car? I'm sure everyone will love a renewable, carbon neutral energy source!

This would be useful in parts of a road where people are stopping/slowing down more than they are accelerating . Otherwise you increase drag and accrue greater costs overall via higher fuel consumption.
