Given that the Airco DH.2 first flew more than two decades before the P-38 Lightning, I'm not sure having twin booms and armament in the nose was quite as innovative as has been presented here

Of all the aircraft images to use for demonstration here, a showing convergence fire from P-38 Wings. Why not a Spitfire silhouette?

This was already solved in by Fokker in 1915. Twin boom plane with frontal armament have been a thing since Caproni Ca.1 from 1914. Also several fighter protypes with identical design existed from 1916 forward. Fokker G.I production fighter had every that P-38 had in 1937

The P-38 machine guns and cannon were located in the nose. 🙄

Might be interesting for somebody...

On that concentration of heavy armament in the nose, Me-110 would like to have a word. Oh, and Mosquito with Whirlwind are next in the line. 🙃

Engineering explained poorly

Wrong , the plane in your diagrams is a P-38 they always had their multiple 50 cal.'s in the nose .

in the diagram you show a p38 lightning. you are a moron because all the guns in a p38 are in the nose not the wings.

Mostly good articles, but this one is 👎

Bullshit, what pilots with wing mounted guns did was set the outer most guns for one range the inner ones at a different range (two guns per wing) or ranges {3 or more guns per wing), thus creating a spread longitudinally from like 500- to 1,500-ft. or so out …

original footage is all from the channel real engineering, you all should check this out instead of this short form AI voice slop

I viewed a WW2 fighter plane documentary. Most of The U.S. fighter pilots liked their guns aimed so that the bullets would pass through a 6ft circle at 400yds. 🎯

Ever heard of the WW2 UK Mosquito? …. Wooden built and a totally brilliant twin engines plane.

It was all fun and games until you entered a nose dive and before you knew it, that was final direction you ever chose!

Okay, maybe so. But you’re using the silhouette of a P-38 that carried guns in the nose, not out on the wings…right?

Well crap. The algo be rockin' tonight. I mentioned a P38 like 45 minutes ago and here is a post about it. Jiggling breasts.

*P47 with eight .50's & multiple convergence angles enters chat*

F6F and P-51 were RIGHT there

unwatchable because obnoxious music

This cause and effect presented here is completely ahistorical

Of all the planes to use, you chose a P-38…

War, the mother of invention.

The truth is a 14 year old girl did the maths not engineers. Watch the amazing story of Hazel

Why would you use P-38, which has its armament in the nose???

Propeller / mg sinchronisation was invented by Anthony Fokker in WW1

Why dont they just put the propellers pointing backwards (or behind the wing) and rotate them backwards. Or place the gun on the nose thing between the propellers so bullets can't get hit.

Use a different example. The P-38 only had guns in the nose.

Gabby Gabrieski …. Read about the way and distance he zeroed his guns that made him more than an ACE!

This video deserves an award for WORST AUDIO

This was all developed well before WWII. Most of it was developed in WWI.

German did not crezte the method, it’s frenchman rolland garros, famous aviator
