Addictions are mental impressions deeply lodged into your subconscious mind by continuous repetition of that action again and again in this lifetime or previous lifetimes. To overcome, one must cleanse these mental impressions in their mind. Leveraging breath and sitting down to meditate is a way to cleanse these impressions. 5 mins of meditation while focusing on your breath will go a long way towards cleaning up the darkest and deepest of your lodged impressions, for you are not your impressions, you are but divine. Go inwards and watch the magic take place. Sit comfortably and easily. Close your eyes. Drop your shoulders. Relax your body. Observe the incoming breath. Observe the outgoing breath. Let the outer world fade into the darkness of the inner world, one breath at a time. And as the mind starts to settle, observe the inner world that lives inside of you. Keep focusing on the incoming breath and the outgoing breath, and witness yourself becoming calmer and calmer. If thoughts in the form of past impressions come up, treat them like clouds in the sky. If you lose yourself to your thoughts, be it for over 5 mins, it's absolutely alright, when this occurs bring your focus back to your breath. Keep at this practice, and watch all your impressions cleanse away. P.S. It's never too late to heal ourselves.
