Years ago, my mother was visiting and kept making comments about my diet being "dog food." "That's what we fed the cocker spaniel when i was a kid." "Oh, more dog food?" Finally, she actually whisper barked at me as the server put our food on the table. The server was clearly uncomfortable. I was near tears. My kids were staring at her like she'd lost her mind. My husband intercepted her plate from the server, leaned out of the booth, and put her plate on the floor. "You wanna bark like a dog, you can eat like one." She left. We enjoyed our meal and my sons learned that no blood relation is worth your peace.

This is such a good man. His wife is so unbelievably blessed. I lived that same exact life with my family. I know how that feels living a lifetime in that environment. What he did for his wife is priceless.

My girlfriend (now my wife) was talking to me. A friend of mine interrupted her. My immediate response was " Hey, do you not see her talking? Dont disrespect her". Maybe that why she's my wife now.

She's right you get used to it. To be polite you smile. Then before you know it you are completely ignored and ready to go home. Where you are comfortable. I see my family 1 day a year for this reason. They hardly noticed when I was there and hardly notice now.

Wow! This feels like the exact same situation with my wife's family. She's the only girl and her brothers are perfect in her mother's eyes. I've had to say this same thing to her family more than once. I also had to ask her mom "why haven't u ever told Susan you are proud of her?
