ICE operates more like a squad of (clearly cowardly) thugs than a law enforcement agency. They don't wear chest cameras They don't show badges or identification They hide behind masks No one wants criminals in their communities, especially those who have entered the country illegally. But most immigrants are NOT criminals. They are merely people who are seeking a better life in America, or trying to escape a dangerous one in their homelands. We need to be a compassionate nation and work with those people. I know, showing compassion to strangers is a lot to ask for a lot of people, especially those who are prejudiced against anyone who doesn't fit their vision of "normal," but I think, if we try, we can do it. Also, the criminals, bad actors though they may be, still have the constitutional right to due process. We can't let our fear overcome our constitutional duties.
