Nobody is writing 90% of their code using AI. Here's the uncomfortable truth: The real productivity gain from using AI to write code is closer to 10%, nowhere near the 90% people claim. Sundar Pichai said in 2024 that 30% of the new code at Google was AI-generated. However, he went on to admit, during Lex Friedman's podcast, that engineering velocity had only increased by about 10%. AI-generated code isn't free code. It still has to be reviewed, tested, and made production-ready. Optimizing a single step (code generation) doesn't boost output if bottlenecks shift elsewhere (code reviews). It doesn't matter how much code you generate if you can't keep up the review process. The solution: Automate as much as you can the review and verification of your code. But developers are now spending 70% of their time checking that code. That's the new bottleneck. I've been using Cline, and they have a feature that actually helps with this: You can click a button and have Cline generate an inline explanation for every single line of AI-generated code. The reason I like designers thinking in code is that it forces you to consider the medium. I would much rather take a designer or PM who has a deep affinity for understanding how agent loops work than someone who can ship PRs. And the only way that you can actually get to understanding agent loops is by building them in the material that they're made of, which is currently code. That's why I care that designers 'code.' Not because of the utility of shipping to production, but because it forces you to really interrogate the material that you're designing with."

For those of you tired of yet another AI-based IDE: Check out Traycer. It's a Visual Studio Code extension (free forever for anyone working on open-source repositories), and it does something different from everyone else. You write a high-level prompt outlining the changes you want to make to your codebase, and the extension generates a plan for you before you touch the code. (It reminds me of GitHub Copilot Workspaces.) You can review the plan, understand exactly the changes the extension will make to your code, and make any modifications. When you are ready, you execute the plan, and Traycer stages all of the changes so you have a new opportunity to review everything. Only then does Traycer apply the changes. This is ideal for large codebases where you'd rather study the changes the AI plans to make before they make it into your code. Look at the video I recorded to see how it works. In an era when you can do everything, the question is which of these things matter. On the engineer side, it is evaluating the code. Which of this code is even valuable? You can have AI engineers writing beautiful code that could be wrong, that could have bugs in it, that could be vulnerable. Someone needs to review it. Make sure to have a human review at some point, especially critical code that is in the core of your system. On the product side is judgment around what needs to be built and evaluating. And similarly in design, you have to have judgment around, does it make sense in the broader design system. I think this judgment is the number one thing that humans are going to bring in an era of infinite productivity."

The subject of 'owning a slave' is dense. It is something we hear a lot when we are in the FemDom Realm. Is it just fantasy? Can it actually be a lifestyle? How do we navigate this type of dynamic? How do we even get to that level of D/s? In this short clip [Exerpt from SLAVE TRAINING Part 2] I want to already bring to your attention one thing that will define if your desire for a slave (or desire as a slave) is touching more on a fantasy or... how can you actually navigate this in a realistic way. No one person 'can do it all' or should be expected to. If you want your slave to be 'the best' , assign them a specific role in which they can excel... and then build upon that. Once they 'master' your housekeeping (which takes quite a bit of real training), they can move to other levels. And an important note I want to leave here... make them EARN access to certain things in your life that sometimes you just want to delegate because you don't want to manage or don't know how to manage. Entrusting them with serious tasks that can affect your life, your business, your reputation, are on top of the ladder. Are they even qualified for the thing you want them to take off your shoulders? Start small and allow them to grow in their submission, to develop their skills and to learn how to best satisfy you without setting them up for failure by expecting too much, too quick. In the end, if you want this to truly work, you have to approach it from a place that transcends the roles. As this is consensual power exchange. And you both want to be fulfilled in that relationship.

You are delusional if you think clients will have their data sitting in a folder waiting for you to process it. Data is everywhere: in Google Drive, Dropbox, S3, Gmail, Slack, you name it. And, of course, no sane developer wants to build connections to every one of these systems. This would be suicide. I'm working with Ragie, and they released Ragie Connect to solve this problem. First, their RAG system is top-notch (they have published how they do on several RAG benchmarks), and with Connect, they made it very simple to integrate client data without having to write any code. (Well, in reality, you still have to write a few lines, but it's minimal.) Instead of developing one-off integrations for Drive, Dropbox, etc, you can use Connect to integrate with all of them and let Ragie handle authentication, authorization, and automatic data synchronization. This is a huge time saver!

I have built a Windows x64 sampling profiler for native code+C# to be used by coding agents. Why? Because it is irresponsible to let computers write code but give them no tools to evaluate the performance of their code. Stop guessing, start measuring. -> How does it work? Just point your agent to the profiler and let them measure and optimize. Or record a trace yourself and let the agent interpret the results for you. Works with Claude Code, Codex, pi, etc. The profiler also has a couple of neat features by itself like giving you estimates for how much time your code is spending on memory stalls and annotating disassembly with inlining information.
