Venezuela was to diversify away from Canada for the oil. Greenland is to diversify away from China for critical earth minerals. Stocks will crash on Tuesday. The EU is taking a coordinated stance against the US attempt to annex Greenland. Trump says it’s for security. But the US wants it for critical earth minerals. Trump tried to tariff China 100% & they blocked all critical minerals exports to the US. The US needs these minerals for military & AI. Without them, they lose their dominance. So the US backed down on the 100% tariffs. Currently, China controls roughly 90% of the world's rare earth minerals. Greenland, has a vast amount of critical earth mineral deposits throughout the country. Trump is using economic force, to annex Greenland, for the resource needs of the US.

For those in the US fantasizing about war with China. Here's the then CEO of Raytheon, one of the biggest arms manufacturer in the US, on how important China is for their supply chain. If you want to go to war with China, then don't expect the US military to be able to replenish anything with rare earth minerals in them. Which is basically everything more sophisticated than an artillery round.

Me: As someone that is actively in the mining sector for years. I will say this, TED is 100% right. However, our government must stop issuing licenses to foreign companies that want to mine rare earth minerals. Including China. We must preserve this precious minerals at all cost. Until local indigenous companies start mining and processing it to finished and semi-finished products like it is done in Vietnam. 🇻🇳
