This is not accurate, ticks can carry multiple diseases at once. A single dose of doxycycline will not protect you against other common tick-borne infections like Babesia, Ehrlichiosis and Anaplasmosis or AGS. It may stop the rash but not later stage events like neurological issues.

You actually need much more than 1 dose. And don’t wait 72 hours!

That’s disturbing. And misleading. Not all ticks carry Lyme. Almost always a bullseye rash develops indicating a Lyme infection. No Bullseye rash=no Lyme disease. Given the catastrophic consequences of Lyme Disease. I wouldn’t trust just one injection to clear that bacteria. Why? Because it’s a Bioweapon. It’s Highly adaptable. And Very evasive. Be very very very careful giving Doxy to the elderly. It's notorious for upsetting stomachs and causing massive vomiting. In the elderly, this can lead to dehydration and can set off a string of events that won't be good for the patient.

I offer this to all my patients. Not always necessary, but lyme carditis is a bitch. Pacemaker vs 0.05 of medicine? Doxy wins everytime.

Doxycycline is a very well tolerated antibiotic as well, although a few people are allergic to it. It should be available over-the-counter in my opinion, so you don’t have to go through a medical gatekeeper to get it after a tick attachment.

I'm allergic to doxycycline and had to do 2 weeks of amoxicillin when I got Lyme.

I got to the point in Lyme Disease that I was having seizures and my heart was stopping and starting again. They gave me a full series of doxycycline and ciprofloxacin.

Lyme is transmitted by deer ticks, not common wood or dog ticks. Deer ticks are small-like a fleck of pepper. It takes up to two weeks for the bullseye rash to appear, accompanied by flu-like symptoms.

This is true. Unfortunately, you don’t always find the tick. I suffered symptoms for 9 months before a Rheumatologist discovered I had an active Lyme’s infection. I never saw the tick or got the bullseye. I’m still suffering years later.

Sorry but a single prescription of doxycycline did not help me. A few weeks later it was back even worse. You have to take multiple doses to cover the spirochete reproduction timeframe. Plus the bacteria cloaks itself in your cells and hides.
