Two members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have withdrawn from the process to impeach Governor Fubara and his deputy. Hon. Sylvanus Nwankwo, the representative of Omuma State Constituency and the Minority Leader of the Assembly, along with Hon. Peter Abbey from Degema State Constituency, have urged their fellow legislators to pursue a peaceful resolution to the current impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu.

Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has led APC stakeholders and supporters in Kano to defend the reputation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the All Progressives Congress (APC). Jibrin, who convened the solidarity gathering held in Kiru on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, condemned what he described as a provocative act involving the burning of caps associated with President Tinubu and Governor Abba, as well as the broom, APC symbol. The APC supporters carried out retaliatory actions by receiving thausands of Kwankwasiyya supporters into APC and burning their caps. The incident involved the leader of Kwankwasiyya figure in Kiru, Bello Shahus, who a day ealier publicly carried out burning the symbols while encouraging others to replicate the act all over the zone. Speaking at the gathering, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin said political differences were part of democracy, but should not be allowed to degenerate into acts capable of humiliating political leaders or threatening peace in the community. He described the large turnout as a demonstration of the strength of the APC in the Zone and kano as a whole.
