Pure totalitarianism. "We are about to FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE AMERICA" said barack hussein in 2008. The Californiacation of Massachusetts--and speaking of which, CA needs to be taken back by America, too. Out of control, radical left, applies-to-thee-but-not-me legislation made BY elites and FOR elites.

Big government advocates are so stupid. I don’t even know where to go with this. Everyone should just buy the biggest SUV they can afford and drive that damn thing.

The Massachusetts legislature bill. Click on text. It incorporates every buzzword. The worst of which is "equitable". So they propose tightening the limit every 5 years. Blah blah lefty-blah buzzword-blah

This bill violates the entire bill of rights. It might pass the state but it will get tossed in federal court faster than my cookies after watching one of Newsom’s beta boy rants.

I think this would be arguably open to a constitutional challenge. Freedom of assembly (specifically in the constitution) logically implies freedom of movement. Automobiles are the primary form of movement (transportation) in our society.

Sounds like a Globalist way of normalizing control of a God given right for a US citizen. It's against the Constitution of the US to deter a citizen to travel. The US government needs to look into this and put a stop to it because it starts. Doesn't matter if this is a state thing or not, the elected officials take an oath to and are legally bound by the Constitution...

Grok: Massachusetts Senate Bill S.2246, introduced in the 194th General Court (covering the 2025-2026 session), is titled "An Act aligning the commonwealth's transportation plans with its mandates and goals for reducing emissions and vehicle miles traveled." The bill aims to ensure that Massachusetts' transportation planning processes are consistent with the state's statutory requirements for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and vehicle miles traveled (VMT), particularly in the transportation sector, which is the largest contributor to emissions in the Commonwealth. ### Key Provisions Based on summaries from official sources and sponsor statements, the bill would: - Require the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) to develop transportation plans that provide a "reasonable pathway" to achieving compliance with GHG emission limits for the transportation sector. If a proposed plan falls short, it must be amended to incorporate greater investments in public transit, bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, or other low-emission transportation alternatives. - Direct MassDOT to establish specific goals for reducing statewide VMT, which would inform the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) when setting GHG emission limits and sublimits. - Create an interagency coordinating council, modeled after existing councils for electric vehicle infrastructure, to develop a comprehensive, whole-of-government plan for reducing VMT and expanding access to non-personal vehicle transportation options, such as public transit and active mobility. The legislation draws inspiration from similar policies in Colorado and Minnesota, focusing on holistic strategies beyond just electric vehicle adoption to meet emission reduction targets (e.g., at least 50% by 2030, 75% by 2040, and 85% by 2050 compared to 1990 levels, with net-zero by mid-century). The bill does not explicitly mandate tracking or capping individual driving miles, nor does it propose new taxes or surveillance mechanisms directly on citizens. Instead, it emphasizes systemic planning and investments to influence overall VMT through infrastructure and policy changes. ### Sponsors and Support The bill was primarily sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Cynthia Stone Creem (D), with co-sponsors including Representatives Erika Uyterhoeven (D), Senators John F. Keenan (D), James B. Eldridge (D), and several other Democratic members of the General Court (totaling 11 Democrats). Proponents, including Creem, argue that it is essential for meeting climate goals amid rising VMT and potential federal rollbacks on emission standards and EV incentives under administrations like Trump's. They highlight the need for diversified approaches, such as balancing highway funding with transit and active transportation, to reduce reliance on personal vehicles.economic impacts on low-income and rural populations. The piece draws parallels to per-mile tax pilots in states like Oregon and suggests the intent is control rather than environmental protection, though these claims appear amplified beyond the bill's stated provisions and lack direct evidence from the text.

Being as this is being tested in Massachusetts, and they’ve already frontloaded every possible tax on transportation, expect this to roll out as financial penalties. Communists always need more money, more money means your money, don’t be stupid slaves.
