“The Texas House will be organized. We will be ready. And we stand willing and able to listen to the community and experts to do all that we can.” That was my message today as I joined Governor Greg Abbott and emergency response officials in Kerrville for a briefing and aerial tour of the areas impacted by the recent devastating flooding. While there is a long road to recovery ahead, the State of Texas will continue to provide the support and resources needed for these communities to recover and for every missing person to be found. All of Texas continues to hold the Texans who lost their lives and those impacted by this tragedy in our hearts and in our prayers.

Giving back to those in need is at the very heart of our mission of Goodness 24/7, and today, Whataburger was proud to announce a donation of more than $1.7 million to support Texas communities impacted by the devastating Hill Country floods this summer. These funds will be distributed to nine nonprofit organizations providing disaster response, mental health care, and long-term rebuilding support to our neighbors and their communities. We were proud to welcome representatives from some of the nonprofits to our headquarters in San Antonio on Friday to highlight their ongoing work and the impact this community-wide effort will have in the months and years ahead.
