Becoming a Catholic priest in 2026 at this point is basically just coming out of the closet.

Become a Deacon. Have the best of both worlds.

Do you mean permanent deacon?

One solution is to sit before the good Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and ask Him. I have heard many vocation stories which went along that line.

Thanks ❤️ I should do that

I suppose it’s more difficult if you have a girlfriend. Incels of sound mind and body with a spiritual life should take their ass to seminary.

Right?

How can you do both

The larp goes too hard. Claiming to be RC with Eastern Icons behind him.

Or a Monk.

Right?

You can be Anglican and do both. Or just wait another decade for the RCC to change clerical celibacy.

Anglican? Nah.

orthodox priest have kids

I am Catholic

they mutually recognize each others authority tho

You wife is the church There’s plenty of children who need a father whether it’s through adoption, foster care, schools, or helping them thru abusive parents You’ll have plenty of female friends and I promise will get your fill through your relationships as a priest We need more Also, you can always drop out Even if you’re some sort of addict or dealing with a vice, you’ll find solace through your experience in seminary Go to seminary Give people the Eucharist and reconciliation and confirmation Baptized babies and lost souls Marry people There’s enough kids and unhealthy marriages Be a priest

@Xavier_DMercy Married deacon

Become Orthodox. Our priests are married and have families of their own.

Hard pass. Thank you

Hard pass? You'd be so lucky

I have a theory: Every single one of you that has a hard time with discernment treats the sacraments, be it matrimony or ordanation, as if it was some kind of lowly job. Some sort of "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." type of thing

This theory is wrong

Or…. be Orthodox and you can be a married priest

Hard pass

Get married and become an Angelican priest and then convert to a Catholic priest and keep the wife and kids. Right @dlongenecker1 ?

@dlongenecker1 Smart move 🤣 But this is not a gamble

@dlongenecker1 Then just join the eastern Catholic Church. They can get married and have kids and are in full communion with the pope.

Get the personal size of the Ignatius one if you feel threatened by the thickness.

The bible is not the bone of contention here

I know, just laying the disclaimer for anyone that thinks that bible is for seminarians only.

Will be praying for your discernment tho 🙏

Gpd bless you

Sir, you have to go by foot to nearest monastery, stay there for 1 week with wise monk, to figure this out.

Why foot?

It's a fair issue. Preventing clergy from having families is a huge mistake. Not only are priests less able to relate to their flock, but it prevente Godly men from raising Godly people. Convert to Orthodoxy and have the best of both worlds 💪🏻

Shushhh Don't say that again. It is by no means a mistake.

I was there in 1998. I chose Family over Priesthood, while in Seminary in Minnesota. Go to Seminary. Discernment is a key aspect of Formation.

I have been there

Friend of mine going through this

God help us

Same here. Right now I'm closer to becoming a priest (traditional ofc)

God guide your journey

Maronite Catholic priest

They marry?

1 Timmothy 4 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats…

Lol 😆 Did Paul Marry?

No, he died before that happened. Yet he did say “Don’t we have the right to bring a believing wife with us as the other apostles and the Lord’s brothers do, and as Peter does?”

Marrying is not a sin But remember that "blessed are those who leave family for my sake" Matthew 19:29

And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life. It’s about losing things for the gospel…

To lose and to give up are two different things.

You “give them up” because they rejected the gospel. Do you really think God wants you to abandon your parents or children?

That's basically what you preach when you think that you should give up those who reject the gospel.

No matter what you choose there will be moments when you think "I should have picked the other"

Harsh truth

Just become a bishop and you can have both 😆

Sure?

Read 1st Corinthians 7

Already it to me

God, just tell me, already! 😄

🤣

Yes,

Yes?

It’s a true calling and not for everyone. If you’re screaming about it, choose the wife and family. Your prayer: Make me an instrument of your peace

Well then Amen

This could be you Let all that other shit go and do this

How I wish it were that easy 😔

It is that easy. Never make a decision in desolation. (unless your heart and soul is so illuminated by the idea that the idea feels like it’s calling your name.) Follow with ultimate freedom where the joy is That’s the Holy Spirit path to Jesus Christ, which is Destiney for you by the word of the heavenly father You know the answer Friend just take the first step

Yeah, I do 😔

What are you afraid of?

I am afraid of falling again

Shut up

Shut the fuck up

Me: Religious life in a monastery or consecrated life in the word as a Carmelite

And they commit to neither.

Neither ?

Porque no los dos? #becomeorthodox

This but becoming a nun 🤭
