I’m holding off on posting yesterday’s tornado content because I shot it in D-Log and it requires processing, but it’ll sure be something when I can find a few hours. It’s important to focus on the tornado and not the chaos. I chose this position, illegally parked in the middle of the lane, because it gave me the best compromise of up close and “don’t forget to look up.” I want to see the whole tornado, not the bottom 10 feet of it. *I put the snarky comment about position in because some of the h8rs are complaining about it, despite me being the FIRST one there and zero other cars on the road.

In the spring of 2008, I had the opportunity to chase storms with the Doppler on Wheels (DOW) and the Tornado Intercept Vehicle (TIV). Initially, I volunteered to support the DOW team, but plans shifted, and the TIV group ended up needing my help instead. My role was to assist a Discovery Channel cameraman in safely capturing footage of the TIV being struck by a tornado. The catch was, we wouldn't have an armor-plated vehicle. As scary as it sounded, I was thrilled. It was the perfect excuse to get closer to tornadoes than I ever imagined—and that's exactly what we did. And it couldn’t have been more fun! Here’s the first tornado we encountered from the prolific Glen Elder-Tipton, Kansas tornadic supercell on May 29th.

Chet Holmgren said Alex Caruso is constantly giving teammates feedback and advice. I asked Caruso how much he enjoys the team aspect of competing: "I love it. I love being able to find and pick apart little advantages that we can gain through the game. My mind, especially during the postseason, is always running and tinkering and looking for different ways to take advantage of the game. And when I see different things for guys on my team that I think can help them, I'm going to mention it to them. Sometimes it's good and it's right and it helps them. And sometimes it's just me talking to myself. But that's something that I'm okay with because it's in the pursuit of being great and it's in the pursuit of us winning games. That's what it takes. You've got to be obsessed with the game to win at a high level, and I try to be."

While the Wellfleet Nebraska tornado of 2025 had many extremely photogenic and memorable moments, perhaps my fondest memory was shortly after saving the semi-truck drivers life by stopping him from driving into the tornado, as the tornado nearly died but roared back to life. While not its most photogenic moment, I was yards away from the vortex, hearing its hiss as it spun the sand of the Nebraska sandhills into a slurry. Watching the video again, I feel like I'm back there, hunkered behind my vehicle to protect me from flying debris or hail. As the tornado came back to life I laughed because I had already spent such a long time dancing with this twister, I couldn't believe the show might go on. And it even got BETTER! See the full 35 minutes of RAW footage of this chase and another 85 minutes of other tornadoes of 2025 in my latest video. Link in comments.

Timing is everything, isn’t it? And sometimes being in the right place at the right time feels well, timely, or even predetermined. With wildlife photography, it’s all about being in the right place at the right time. The more you know about your subject, the better because it increases your chances of being where you need to be when you need to be there. There is also an element of just letting go and taking what is given to you. It’s always best to have no expectations at all when it comes to wildlife. On this morning, everything did fall perfectly into place, and I was able to capture this dreamy scene of a beautiful Dalmatian pelican and its reflection on smooth water as it came in for a landing. Oh yeah, the glorious snow-capped mountains in the back were definitely a treat too. The days prior to this, that mountain range was hidden by clouds. I didn’t even know it was there. 🤪

Today is autistic pride day. And there is something special about being able to post a video of me stimming, when even going back a year or two years I could never have done that. My autistic traits are the parts of myself I grew up feeling embarrassed about. I wanted to hide it all away, to blend in and be like everyone else. But no matter how hard I tried, I just wasn’t like everyone else, and trying to be broke me. I don’t think autistic pride means you have to love being autistic. I think autistic pride is about taking back the power from the world and the people that wanted me to hide my autistic self. Learning to love myself as I am, accept myself for who I am, and know that I am autistic and that is okay. It is not good, it is not bad - it just IS. I know I am lucky to be able to discover the authentic me, and feel safe to be myself. I am leaning in to the authentic version of me as fully as I can. Happy #AutisticPrideDay. Know that however you feel about this day is okay. However you feel about being autistic is okay. ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜 (also taking a moment to feel the emotion that I can even post this caption, after years and years of hating myself. this is healing).

Going into 2026 one thing I would say is worth focusing on and adding to your toolbox is adding to winners more Its not every trade. As not every trade will present the opportunity. (I look for speeds and low resistance delivery windows when I do this) And even when I think I caught momentum a lot of times it will still come back break even on me (Anytime I add leverage to a winner I close BE if it comes back) But all you have to do is catch a couple a day that don't come back break even and your winning trades balloon over the papercuts and BE 📈Just a thought. See you on the charts again in 2026
