The Yoruba Wars in West Africa were a major source of captives who were sold into slavery, creating a direct link between the Yoruba homeland and the slave populations in the Americas where their cultural influence was then felt. Dear Wàá ṣere, Myself and many others genuinely appreciate you. The effort you have consistently put into preserving and promoting Yoruba culture is admirable and deserves recognition. That is why it was both surprising and disappointing to see you join those making shallow side-by-side comparisons between Yoruba culture and Ibo culture. Yoruba is not the opposite of Igbo culture, nor are they two sides of the same coin. Please let us desist from these kinda comparisons. We do not appreciate content framed in that manner. Given how knowledgeable you are, one would expect you to have the ọgbọ́n inú to see beyond the surface and understand why many of us object to these comparisons. I want to believe you know better. If this was simply an attempt to generate engagement or draw attention to your newly opened museum, then that is unfortunate. There are countless ways to create awareness for your museum without selling Yoruba out. This is not coming from a place of hate, but from a place of disappointment. We hold you to a higher standard because of the work you've done over the years, and we believe someone with your knowledge and influence should know better and hopefully do better henceforth.

Igbo Woman: Help us, Yoruba landlords refused to rent their houses to us Igbos in Lagos. I went to 10 houses and 9 said no to Igbo. People in her comment section were telling her it's the result of the Yoruba hate that Igbos are doing online. Igbos will come online and lie that they have bought all Yoruba houses and land finished, Denigrating Yorubas, so how come Igbos are still the ones crying that Yoruba landlords are not renting houses to them if they have bought it all? Igbos do not realise that their actions online are actually affecting their people offline. Also, Landlords are now aware that Igbos hardly pay rent once they rent a house. I watched this video three different times. Not once, not twice, but three times. And in that same video, this thing intentionally referred to Yoruba people as “ONYE OFE NMANU” five different times. That is not slang. That is not banter. That is a slur. A deliberate insult meant to demean Yoruba people as “people of oily soup.” So I went on X, expecting at least one voice from her own side to call her out. Just one. But no. Absolute silence. The same people who rush into comment sections screaming “bigotry” whenever Yorubas respond brutally suddenly lost their keyboards. That silence tells you everything you need to know. You can see the bitterness clearly. The resentment is loud. And the hatred is not even disguised. Now let us address the fake victim narrative. I do not have a problem with any artist facing genuine segregation. But let us ask a simple, honest question. Did Yoruba people go to radio stations, TV houses, and clubs in ANAMBRA, ABIA, IMO, EBONYI, and ENUGU to stop playing Ibo artists' music?. This SHIT is in Lagos (Yoruba land) listening to radio stations in Lagos (Yoruba land) not playing Ibo artists songs in Lagos (Yoruba land). what an audacity and self-entitlement. And second of all video club still dey exist in 2025?😂 Like seriously, who still rents CD when we have Netflix, YouTube & TikTok? Make una talk true Na cultural protection or cultural comedy? 🤷🏽‍♂️
